PHIMA e-Alert

January 29, 2021

Inside this Issue:

We are offering all HIIM courses in the Hyflex model. What is Hyflex? It means student choice. Hyflex is a student-directed, multi-modal approach to learning. Students can decide, for each class or activity, how to participate. Classes will be offered face-to-face (F2F), synchronously, or asynchronously.

Want to attend in person today? Do it. Not feeling well? Attend online during the class time (synchronously). Unexpected shift at work? Attend later asynchronously on your own time by watching the recording. The Hyflex model allows you, as the student, the choice of participating in the option that works best for you today. Tomorrow might be different.

We offer a comprehensive 4 year bachelor’s degree and degree completion for students with an associate’s degree.

Corporate Sponsor Spotlight:  Health Information Alliance, Inc.

This week, PHIMA is proud to spotlight Health Information Alliance, Ince (HIA), PHIMA 2020 Bronze Corporate Sponsor:
  1. Tell us a little bit about your company.  How long have you been in business?

Health Information Alliance, Inc., was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1992.  HIA offers 50+ services to its hospital clients.  We consist of two distinct divisions: coding and performance improvement.  Our Coding Services Division provides every type of coding imaginable. In fact, many other coding service companies outsource their work to HIA as we have so many specialty coding services as well as the mainstream such as IP, OP, ED, Profee, among others.  We code in-vitro fertilization, autism, Oasis, Hospice, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and many more very specific services.

Health Information Alliance, Inc., also has a Performance Improvement Division, originally providing MedisGroup/ATLAS/PHC4 compliance abstraction back in 1992.  We now offer Cancer Registry (PURC/QOPI), Trauma Registry, NCDR, STS, GWTG, Comprehensive Stroke, NSQIP, ECMO/ELSO, and many more.
  2. What does your company offer to Health Information Professionals?

Health Information Professionals seek a relationship with our organization for many reasons.  Their hospital or health system may need a valued resource partner to assist with backlogs, turnover, or they may have difficulty staffing specific positions as the credentials are so unique and require so much experience that it makes much more sense to outsource cost-effectively.  On the flip side of the coin, many folks in the state have worked PRN with HIA over the years as they have excellent experience and credentials and want to supplement their incomes with flexible hours.
  3. What sets your company apart from your competitors?

Health Information Alliance, Inc., is very different from its competitors in that we fully understand the complete revenue cycle.  How?  We have both Performance Improvement and Coding staff.  We have clients where coding issues impact registries.  For example, Coding errors can affect the cases selected for GWTG, Cath PCIs, Cancer Registry, or Core Measures registries.  We have a full complement of services internally to reach out to and solve issues quickly and efficiently, unlike a vendor that only codes or only provides registry abstraction services.

Health Information Alliance, Inc., brings so much more to the table, innovatively, & cost-effectively.
