ILHIMA is now accepting nominations for the ILHIMA Distinguished Member, Professional Achievement, and Outstanding New Professional awards.

  • Who has authored a book, article or journal or done presentations that have been awe-inspiring?

Scholarships

ILHIMA supports the professional development of individuals engaged in the undergraduate study of health information technology, health information management, and/or graduate study in health information management or related fields. Scholarships are awarded through ILHIMA-designated funds and the number and amount of scholarships may change from year to year.

The application Deadline is February 1st.

Final 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

On November 1, 2022, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released their final rule for the CY 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS). CMS had previously released their proposed version on July 7, 2022. After receiving submitted feedback from the public during the comment period, CMS published the final version that, unless otherwise stated, will have policies going into effect January 1, 2023. Much of what was proposed in July remains in this final version.

The 2023 AHIMA Advocacy Summit: March 20-21!

The AHIMA Advocacy Summit is where health leaders and policymakers come together to address important key policy issues related to health data and health information.

You may earn up to 13 CEUs at this two-day event, taking place March 20–21, 2023, in Washington, DC, which includes a Public Policy Institute on March 20. AHIMA members also have an opportunity to advocate for issues impacting the health information profession to their elected officials at our Capitol Hill Day on March 21.

HHS Proposes New Protections to Increase Care Coordination and Confidentiality for Patients With Substance Use Challenges

New Proposed Rule to Implement the Bipartisan CARES Act Legislation
 
Today, the U.S. Health and Human Services Department, through the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), announced proposed changes to the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Patient Records under 42 CFR part 2 (“Part 2”), which protects patient privacy and records concerning treatment related to substance use challenges from unauthorized disclosures. Specifically, today’s proposed rule increases coordination among providers in treatment for substance use challenges and increases protections for patients concerning records disclosure to avoid discrimination in treatment.
