Call for Volunteers

Amanda Cooper, SCHIMA President-Elect, is seeking nominations for appointed SCHIMA Board positions. Please nominate yourself or another member for a position. SCHIMA is specifically looking for volunteers to serve in the following appointed positions from July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021:

  • Coding Roundtable Coordinator or Committee Member
  • Communications Coordinator or Committee Member
  • Education/Program Chair
  • Membership Coordinator
  • Student Liaison
  • Student Outreach and Scholarship Chair
  • Upstate/Midlands/Coastal Region Coordinators

Spring 2020 SCHIMA Midlands/Upstate Region Webinar Series Update

The Spring 2020 SCHIMA Midlands/Upstate Region Webinar Series held on April 23rd and 24th was a success with approximately 40 of our 50 registrants joining the live webinars. The webinar series was a combined virtual event to replace the cancelled Upstate March and Midlands April regional meetings due to COVID-19.Congratulations to Doris Sorton and Donald Calef who won the $25 registration discount drawings for the 2020 SCHIMA Annual Meeting. Also, congratulations to our three $25 gift card winners compliments of Alliance HIM:  Peggy Lanford, Kathleen Kirk and Schimanya Sullivan.

Congratulations to OHIMA! The Ohio CSA won the 2019 AHIMA Advocacy Award!  Check out the well-produced video they are graciously sharing that helps explain our role in healthcare.

2020 SCHIMA Award Nominations

Annually, SCHIMA recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of members in the following 3 areas:

2020 SCHIMA Annual Meeting & Exhibit

Currently, SCHIMA has no plans to cancel our annual meeting in July. We are monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and all advisories from state and national authorities and will comply. If we do need to cancel or adjust the date of our meeting, we will provide regular updates over the coming months. Please note our current cancellation policy. We will consider virtual options if necessary.
