Something Surprising to Know About Me
I love to grow flowers – inside and outside! I have two African violets that originally belonged to my grandmother. Granny died in 1993. My mom kept the plants until 2015. When she passed, the plants were given to me and they are still thriving!
How Did I Get Into HIM?
While in high school, I worked in the front office of a physician’s office. My neighbor who happened to be the administrator of the local hospital asked me if I was thinking of being a nurse. I told him NO because sick people were so grouchy. He asked me if I had ever heard of a ‘Medical Record Librarian’ (his terminology was a little behind, even then) and explained what he knew about the profession. The next year I started college with a major of medical record technology.

The AHIMA Nominations Committee is seeking qualified candidates to serve in AHIMA volunteer leadership positions, to fill the positions of:
- One AHIMA President/Chair-elect
- Three Directors for the Board of Directors
- One CCHIIM Commissioner (1 position; CCHIIM is looking for candidates who hold one of the following credentials: CDIP, CHDA, or CHP)
- Two open positions for Council for Excellence in Education (CEE) Member
- One Speaker-elect for the House of Delegates
