Something Surprising to Know About Me:
Happily married mom of 3 beautiful children and Granna of 1 with 2 more on the way!  I love anything outdoors and fitness related—Hiking, Camping, Kayaking, and Gardening.  I obtained both personal training and group fitness instructor certifications.  Prior to COVID,I taught group fitness classes including Strength Training, Cross-Training, and HIIT style workouts in my ‘spare time’.
How Did I Get Into HIM?
I went into the nursing program at Wallace State College, about half way through the RN program I decided this wasn’t the career for me.  With two young kids, I needed to complete a program and start a career as soon as possible.  I loved the medical aspect of nursing so I decided to check with the HIM program director about the transcription certificate.  She recommended that I look into enrolling into the HIM program and specifically coding.  That was the first time that I had ever heard of this vocation. With the HIM program allowing for a variety of different career paths, I felt it was a ‘safe bet’ that I would find my niche in the healthcare field.
