The first quarter 2019-20 Board meeting of PHIMA was held on Friday August 2nd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Wegman's Community Room in Mechanicsburg, PA. Second year President, Margie Stackhouse welcomed the Board to the new year. Executive Director, Linda McLinden took the team through their responsibilities with an on-boarding presentation including everything from board expectations, to using our internal board community tool, review of policies and procedures and job descriptions and a discussion about our Conflict of Interest statement and Board Training and Acknowledgement statement. Treasurer Laura Rizzo reviewed the FY 2018-19 final report.
Business discussion included a review of several changes to First Year and Second Year Director responsibilities to better balance the tasks. In addition, the Coding Roundtable has been changed to the Coding and Revenue Cycle Committee.
The 2019 Fall Conference will be held on November 8th. The agenda is in development and will be shared with PHIMA members in September. Last but not least, President-elect Denise French reviewed the list of Hot Topics. There are several that lend themselves to education opportunities for both webinars and the Annual Conference. Several surrounded member engagement. Members should look for a survey in the early fall soliciting ways to improve participation.
The next Board meeting will be held in November.
