WHIMA Virtual Annual Conference Registration Now Open!

There are not many times in one’s professional career that one can receive 31 CEUs for just $150!  But with the 2020 WHIMA Virtual Annual Conference you will receive just that!  The virtual conference is packed full of quality education at a very affordable price!  If you do not need 31 CEUs or can’t afford $150 during this time because of COVID-19, WHIMA has you covered.  All sessions are offered a la carte for $8/CEU
We certainly will miss being able to network, socialize and relax with our peers at the in-person conference, but WHIMA has that covered also.  In addition to the educational sessions, you will have the opportunity to network virtually with other registrants, as well as the speakers and exhibitors.  And that's not all!  Register for the virtual conference or individual sessions and you will have the opportunity to join the first WHIMA Virtual Networking Social Hour scheduled for June 4!
Hope that you can all join us for the first WHIMA Virtual Annual Conference!

WHIMA Fall Conference

WHIMA’s Fall Conference Team is in the process of planning the content for the upcoming conference. We realize that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and, for some, the way we work. Based on what you have or are currently experiencing, what suggestion(s) do you have for topics for this year’s WHIMA Fall Conference? Is there any subject matter that you feel is not offered at the WHIMA Annual Conference? The planning team wants to offer relevant and current subject matter to keep you well informed and up-to-date. Please send your suggestions to Amy Hoaglund, RHIA at

WHIMA-MHIMA Webinar: Routine Footcare – Everything You Ever Wanted to Know but Were Afraid to Ask

June 17, 2020 at 12:00 - 1:00 PM (CST)

$25 MHIMA/AHIMA Member
$35 Non-MHIMA/AHIMA Member (Non-refundable)

Routine footcare. Not necessarily a focus in today’s healthcare landscape. But one day we’ll return to our “old normal” and a need to understand this service will return, also. Footcare can be very confusing to code, difficult to get reimbursed, and, according to some organizations, not worth the billing headaches. CMS provides us a very detailed Local Coverage Determination (LCD) to follow, but the combination of required modifiers, limited covered diagnoses, and unclear documentation requirements make it more confusing than helpful to many. Join us as we untangle the coding and documentation dos and don’ts of routine footcare, in the hopes we can all land on our feet.

No BSN, No Problem? Anny Pang Yuen on CDI Hiring Processes

Anny Pang Yuen RHIA, CCS, CCDS, CDIP, a seasoned CDI/HIM/revenue cycle professional, wrote a LinkedIn post three months ago that sparked a terrific discussion with over 39,000 shares. Yuen stressed "how important it is for hiring managers and leaders to understand that having a [Bachelor of Science in Nursing] does not automatically make you qualified for [a CDI] job".
As an active and experienced member of the CDI community, Yuen expands on her post in this week's episode of AHIMA's HI Pitch podcast, addressing her statement that "it is the person who makes a successful CDI professional, not the background or credential."
