2019 AHIMA Triumph Awards Recipients Announced

WHIMA applauds Chrisann Lemery, MSE, RHIA, CHPS, FAHIMA!  Chrisann has received the AHIMA Leadership Award in 2019. All of the AHIMA Triumph recipients will be presented with their awards in September at the AHIMA 19 Conference in Chicago, IL.
Chrisann exemplifies the attributes of the AHIMA Leadership Triumph Award.  She has been an AHIMA member for over 30 years – and is very passionate about being a leader in health information and shares this passion through volunteering, visionary leadership, and speaking engagements.
Volunteer roles include former WHIMA President, Past President and Board Member; as well as AHIMA Board Member and Speaker of the House.  Her volunteer activities related to advocacy and legislation are iconic such as serving on the award-winning HIPAA COW, participation in state and national Hill Days, and government committee appointments.
Chrisann keeps a watchful eye for new regulations and information, alerts to inform as well as initiates discussion for collaboration – always promoting a positive transformation and while maintaining AHIMA’s mission in the forefront.  Her knowledge and visionary leadership have motivated many members – not only to recognize key players/organizations, but by getting involved themselves.
Chrisann is a well-known author and speaker on a variety of HIM related topics and is the “go-to” person to many.  She is also very active in academia serving on college advisory boards and being a mentor to future HIM professionals, by sharing her knowledge and experiences.

Open Comment Opportunity on CDI and Health Data Integrity

As part of the AHIMA transformation, AHIMA recently convened two Thought Leadership Roundtables: CDI and Health Data Integrity. These groups, made up of experts across the continuum of care, engaged in many healthy and productive debates and discussions. Their charge was to create recommendations for AHIMA around the future role of, and AHIMA’s meaningful role in, CDI and health data integrity.
The Thought Leaders developed recommendations for consideration and now we invite you to read them and give us your input during a month-long public comment period. To comment, read the recommendations at the link below and follow the prompts to give us your feedback. This open comment opportunity will also be shared with all members. Please note that the comment period is a request for comments, not a vote.

After the comment period, our Thought Leader Roundtables will reconvene and review all comments and use them to inform their final recommendations to the AHIMA Board of Directors.

We hope you will participate in this opportunity to chart the future course of our profession and association. The deadline for providing comments is July 31, 2019, at 5 p.m. CDT.
