The flowers on the alter this morning are presented by Dan Smith in memory of his mother Maxine Jaco Smith.  
If you would like to purchase alter flowers in honor of or in memory of someone contact María at   Place your check for $25 in the offering box with the memo “alter flowers”.   Please take your flowers home after worship and leave the vase.  

Scott Thomas will lead us as we all help take down Christmas Decorations. 

Our next Church Council meeting will take place on Tues., Jan. 11 at 6 pm in Fellowship Hall.  Everyone is invited to join us as we discuss church business and news. 

BOOK STUDY-Jan 26th 6pm
The next book study will be on Wednesday January 26 at 6 pm in Fellowship Hall.  The book is "My Grandmother Asked me to Tell You She is Sorry" by Fredrik Backman, feel free to join us. Future studies include the February book is "Black is the Body: Stories from my Grandmother's Time" by Emily Bernard.

Spread the word, AlBarka Food Pantry is open every 3rd Saturday from 10am until noon.   They are located at Dar AlJalal Mosque, 8945 Dunn Road in Hazelwood.

The UMW would like to raise funds in order to purchase a new, much needed, stove for the kitchen.  The stove is used often for our breakfasts and dinners.

St. Louis Winter Outreach is a group of volunteers who provide resources and emergency shelters on the coldest of nights. Here are some ways LPUMC folks can help:  Donations:
- Twin & queen size blankets and sleeping bags (no Afghans or knit blankets, please); adult size socks;
- Financial donations used for purchasing supplies and emergency hotels: checks made to St. Louis Winter Outreach. Please note that because STL Winter Outreach is not a 501c3, these donations are not tax deductible.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please talk with Kristen Leslie.  Please give checks to Kristen Leslie or Maria Lawrence.
- Host a donation drive through your school or organization.
Volunteer options (see Kristen Leslie for more details):
- Transportation: transport guests in your vehicle to our shelters
- Shelter work: volunteer at one of the over-night shelters (shifts include evening and overnight)
- Outreach work: join experienced volunteers who check on unhoused folks around the downtown area.

Ready to prepare your home with Fall or Christmas decorations, stop by the Boutique, and see what the United Methodist Women have put together.  You can also pick up some Christmas gifts for your family and friends. The Boutique is open every Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or you can visit after worship service.

Stephen’s Ministers are a group of men and women dedicated to help fellow Christians through life’s rough patches.  Not counselors, ministers meet with care receivers weekly to listen and pray.  Contact Dee Hawkins at or 502-802-6771 for more information. 

Loaves & Fishes is a fund which helps those in need with utility bills, groceries etc.  If anyone  approaches you for this type of need, you may have them call Pastor Kathleen, at 314-771-9214, or Maria at 618-334-2131.  If you would like to contribute to this fund, you may write Loaves & Fishes in the memo line of your check 

NEW BEGINNINGS-A NEW YEAR . . . There is a freshness in the air, a kind of new start, “do over” feeling to it!   So many of our friends who are who are getting new homes and apartments are having that exact feeling.  We are so blessed to be able to support them in this hope filled time of their lives.  And we pray that God continues to grace and strengthen them on their journey.  We pray too, that all the love you’ve shared with those we been privileged to serve will return to fill your hearts and homes this Holy Season and each day of the coming year.

The Mary & Martha team is a small group of women that helps put together Starter Baskets for New Beginnings tenants as well as gather and sort bed sheets, towels, dishes, glassware, etc. They have a great time, while doing this worthwhile ministry at the same time.  If you would like to join the fun and meet this lovely group of ladies, come to fellowship hall on a Wednesday between 9 a.m. and noon.

Bridge Bread Bakery is a non-profit social enterprise that employs individuals experiencing homelessness and provides them with marketable skills and reliable employment. Fresh Start is a ministry that began at LPUMC.  This ministry  employs people who need a helping hand by showing them how to make dog food and dog treats.  To purchase a special treat/surprise for your pup, contact Larry Turner at 314-295-8417.

Home First provides housing and a guided path to independent living.  To date, 2 four family houses have been rehabbed providing initial shelter, help in finding jobs and counseling along the way.  A number of individuals have successfully passed through the Home First program.
