Webinar on Biosecurity in the Americas: Regional threat Assessment

This webinar is intended for technical experts, International Organization staffers, academia and scientist interested in biosecurity and the nonproliferation of biological weapons who will learn about the findings of research carried out by the University of Maryland on biosecurity and biosafety threats to the region. This event is organized by the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS in the framework of the 9th Review Conference of the UN Biological Weapons Convention.

Forum of the Inter-American Human Rights System: "Democracy, Rule of Law and Human Rights in the Americas".

This forum is an initiative of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR Court) for the promotion and exchange of knowledge on human rights in the region. The theme of the event will be "Democratic institutionality and the rule of law in the Americas". During the first day there will be an opening conference and four thematic panels and on the second day there will be a panel on "Journalism and Democracy in the Americas".

Webinar: “Automatization and Digitalization for Port Management”

This webinar is intended for port officials from the public and private sector of OAS member states and will provide a platform to ports and terminals in the region to share award-winning automatization and digitalization initiatives for port management. Representatives from APM Terminals Callao, the Port of Itaqui and Santos Port Authority will present on innovative technology projects including digital twin models, integration of systems, among others. This Webinar is organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), in the context of its Scholarship and Capacity Building Program.

Closing Event of the Climate Action Program for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

This event has as its objective to present findings, products and lessons learned generated during the Climate Action Program for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. This initiative seeks to promote a toolbox that supports good mitigation and adaptation practices within the framework of the NDCs and comprehensive climate action from an approach derived from the various international development mechanisms. The PACD-LAC  is an initiative promoted by the Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) of the OAS and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with the support of the Governments of Costa Rica, Jamaica and Uruguay.

Subregional Training Seminar on Early Warning Systems

This seminar is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS through the Inter-American Observatory on Drugs (OID, by its Spanish-language acronym), as part of the Early Warning Systems (EWS) Project in Response to Opioids and New Psychoactive Substances in Latin America and the Caribbean. The event will review the development of EWS in Latin American and Caribbean countries, and is aimed at professionals from national drug observatories, EWS members, and other stakeholders in member states.

Launch of the IACHR Strategic Plan for 2023-2027

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will launch its Strategic Plan for the period 2023-2027. This is the main instrument and compass of institutional management to fulfill its mission and face the current and future challenges that the attention and protection of human rights in the continent demands. The event will include the participation - among others - of IACHR President Julissa Mantilla, the Commission's Executive Secretary, Tania Reneaum, OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, and former IACHR Commissioner Juan Méndez.

Training Course on Countering Aviation Security Ecosystem Threats (CASET)

The CASET course is intended for personnel exercising functions in the aviation security field.  The objective of this course is to provide technical training and exchange of best practices to aviation security officers on how to counter existing threats in civil aviation such as MANPADS.  It is organized by the Aviation Security Program of the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS, together with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and the support of the United States Department of State.
