Online Course: “International Maritime and Port-related Conventions”
The course -available by invitation only- is intended for officials of National Port Authorities of OAS member states, who will learn about the regulatory framework represented by the international conventions to which Peru is a party, which have a particular impact on port activity. This course is organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the OAS within the framework of its Scholarship and Training Program, in collaboration with the National Port Authority (APN) of Peru. The course will be conducted in Spanish.
Online Courses on Biosecurity in the Americas for Laboratory Personnel and Policymakers
These online courses, available in Spanish only, will provide participants knowledge on biological terrorism and other biosecurity threats, common biosecurity breaches and potential practical solutions. One course is designed for laboratory personnel and the other for decision makers. These courses are organized by the 1540 Program of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS in collaboration with the University of Maryland through the START Consortium, and are financed by the European Union .
Launch of the Therapeutic Justice Project for Adolescents with Problematic Substance Use in Peru – Phase II
The second phase of the Therapeutic Justice Project for Adolescents in Conflict with the Law with Problematic Substance Use in Peru is aimed at authorities and high-level public officials who are involved in the implementation and expansion of the juvenile therapeutic justice programs in the country. The event is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS.
Experts from the United States and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, along with representatives from the OAS, will hold anticorruption meetings with government institutions and civil society organizations during an on-site visit to Canada. The objective is to collect information for preparing a country report containing recommendations for Canada to strengthen its laws and institutions on topics such as bank secrecy, prevention of bribery, and transnational bribery. The visit is organized by the Department of Legal Cooperation (DLC) of the OAS Secretariat for Legal Affairs (SLA)in its capacity as the technical secretariat of the MESICIC.
Seminar on Monitoring, Research, and Drug Information Networks
The event is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS, within the framework of the Project to Strengthen the Mexican Observatory of Mental Health and Drug Use of the National Commission against Addictions (OMSMCD-CONADIC, by its Spanish-language acronym) and has the objective to provide the audience with the most up-to-date information on the research and monitoring of the drug phenomenon, and to support the strengthening of the national drug information network in Mexico. This event will be hybrid and participation is by invitation from CONADIC only.
66th Lecture Series of the Americas “Challenges in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the Americas”
The Lecture Series of the Americas was created by the Permanent Council as a space to enrich the debate on key issues of the Inter-American agenda, launched in 2004. The upcoming lecture will feature keynote speakers Michelle Muschett, Director of the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Ilan Goldfajn, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). This lecture is organized by the School of Governance of the OAS, and San Martin de Porres University in Peru, will be conducted in Spanish and interpreted in English. Registration is mandatory for participants who attend in person.

Webinar: "Disaster Risk Management Strategies: A Comprehensive Approach to Emergency Preparedness and Response"
The webinar, intended for port officials from the public and private sectors of OAS member states, will address disaster risk management from the perspective of top-level agencies and organizations dedicated to safeguard communities from natural and anthropogenic disasters. It is organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the OAS within the framework of its Scholarship and Training Program and will be held in English.
National Training for Scientists and Laboratory Personnel on Biosafety and Biosecurity
This in-country training -available by invitation only- is intended for scientists, laboratory personnel or researchers of life sciences responsible for biosafety and biosecurity. Participants will learn about the principles of biosafety and biosecurity which, in combination with practical exercises, will strengthen their knowledge on resolution 1540 of the United Nations Security Council and the Biological and Toxins Weapons Convention. This training is organized by the 1540 Program of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS and is financed by the European Union.
The training is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS within the framework of the 2023 Regional Conference of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). The goal is to build the capacity of youth aged 18-25 years old and promote their leadership in drug demand reduction. The curriculum provides this sector of the population with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to develop and implement drug use prevention action plans in their communities.
Experts from Belize and Jamaica, along with representatives from the OAS, will hold meetings with government institutions and civil society organizations for a virtual on-site visit to The Bahamas. The objective is to collect information for preparing a country report containing recommendations for The Bahamas to strengthen its laws and institutions on topics such as prevention of bribery, transnational bribery, illicit enrichment, extradition, and bank secrecy. TThe visit is organized by the Department of Legal Cooperation (DLC) of the OAS Secretariat for Legal Affairs (SLA)in its capacity as the technical secretariat of the MESICIC.
First Latin American and Caribbean Regional Meeting of the International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction
The meeting is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS, within the framework of the Regional Conference of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). The objective of the meeting is to present and discuss proposals on drug demand reduction activities with Latin American and Caribbean universities, in coordination with ES-CICAD and the ICUDDR. The meeting will have participation of faculty members from Latin American and Caribbean universities.
Training of Women’s Intervention for Substance Exposure
The training is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) of the OAS, within the framework of the Regional Conference of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). It’s aimed at professionals in charge of coordinating or implementing substance use treatment programs for women. V Hemispheric Conference on Competitiveness, Innovation and Logistics
This seminar is intended for port officials from the public and private sectors of OAS member states and will provide them with an international platform for public-private dialogue at the highest level to address key aspects of digitalization and automation for efficient logistics, competitiveness, port security operations and environmental sustainability. The seminar is organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the OAS in collaboration with the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).
The “III STIC Conference – Dominican Republic Chapter” aims to spread understanding of, promote and make visible cybersecurity activities and actions at the international level, in order to contribute to the strengthening of cyberspace. The event is supported by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS and is co-organized by the Information Security Incident Response Team of the National Cryptologic Center of Spain (CCN-CERT) and the National Institute of Cybersecurity of Spain (INCIBE), and is intended for police units, Computer Incident Response Centers (CSIRTs) and Directors of Digital Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Applications Open for the Fellowship for the IACHR Rapporteurship on the Rights of People of African Descent and against Racial Discrimination
Open to nationals of OAS member states of African descent working as professionals in law, international relations, political science, and other social sciences. The paid fellowship is offered by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), has a duration of 11 months, and will be carried out remotely.

Regional Seminar on Early Warning Systems
The objective of the regional seminar is to share good practices and present the most up-to-date information on emerging drug threats from established early warning systems (EWS) in the region, as well as to support the development of EWS’ in other member states of Latin America and the Caribbean. The event is organized by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD), together with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), the Cooperation Program between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union on Drug Policy (COPOLAD, by its Spanish-language acronym) and the Chilean National Service for Prevention and Rehabilitation on Drug and Alcohol Use (SENDA, by its Spanish-language acronym).
Workshop on Parallel Financial Investigations of the Financing of Illicit Activities
This onsite workshop is intended for officials of the Office of International Affairs, prosecutors and investigators for Criminal Finance and against Organized Crime of the Colombian Attorney General's Office, with the objective of strengthening capacities in the application of international cooperation, special investigative techniques, and the effective processing of requests for mutual legal assistance on illicit financial flows in money laundering, terrorism financing, and asset forfeiture. The activity is carried out by the OAS Department against Transnational Organized Crime (DTOC); the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the United States Embassy in Colombia; and the Attorney General’s Office in Colombia.

Intended for both the public and private sector, this course will analyze the main concepts of integrity, prevention and fight against corruption; provide practical tools for the design and implementation of integrity, prevention and fight against corruption policies; clarify and discuss integrity risks in different areas of public management; and analyze different tools and methodologies to strengthen integrity and associated principles, such as transparency and accountability.
