Open Call to Apply for the Diploma “Governance, Management and Public Leadership in the Inter-American System”

The diploma is intended for public officials, community and political leaders, academics and communication professionals interested in strengthening their leadership skills and innovation capacities in public management. This course has a regional vision and a transversal perspective that addresses challenges in democracy, human rights, multidimensional security and comprehensive development. It will be imparted from March 30 to April 3 and it will be divided into three weeks of online studies and one on-site week (in English and Spanish) that will take place at the OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C. It is organized by the OAS School of Governance.

IV Meeting of Officials Responsible for Penitentiary and Prison Policies of the OAS

The Prison Authorities of the member states of the OAS will meet in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic,  to discuss and promote solutions to common prison problems. The topics to be discussed will include infrastructure, overcrowding and conditions of confinement; professionalization of prison services; social reintegration of the persons deprived of liberty; and information systems for prison management. The recommendations emerging from this meeting will be taken to the Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA).

Open Call to Participate in the Americas Competitiveness Exchange in Colorado

50 innovation and economic development leaders will be selected to join the upcoming Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE) to take place May 17 to 22, 2020 in Colorado, United States.  Candidates are decision makers from the public, private, and the academic sectors that are leading projects and initiatives in economic development, innovation and entrepreneurship. Those selected will have VIP access to top economic development sites and projects in Colorado, as well as the opportunity to explore strategic partnerships with regional and global stakeholders. The ACE program in Colorado is organized by the OAS as Technical Secretariat of the Inter-American Competitiveness Network (RIAC) and the Government of the United States.

Deadline to Apply for the Diploma in STEM-STEAM Education
The diploma in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education is a training program for the professional development of teachers and educators from OAS member countries. The course focuses on the design and implementation of practices, projects or programs aimed at improving the quality of education. It is certified by the OAS and the Pontifical Bolivarian University of Colombia. The program last 19 weeks and is available only in Spanish. The program is supported by the OAS School of Governance.

Launch of the Guidebook “Measuring All Gaps: a Guidebook for the Operationalization of the Indicators of the Protocol of San Salvador from a Transversal LGBTI Perspective”

The Department of Social Inclusion (DIS) and the Working Group of the Protocol of San Salvador, with the support of the OAS LGBTI Core Group and the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the OAS will launch the document “Measuring All Gaps: a Guidebook for the Operationalization of the Indicators of the Protocol of San Salvador from a Transversal LGBTI Perspective.” The guide is a tool to help States improve the collection of data concerning the access of these persons to their economic, social and cultural rights.

Deadline to Apply for the Course: “Virtual Tutoring Training”

The purpose of this course is to train potential tutors, who develop the necessary skills and pedagogical abilities for teaching in virtual learning environments. It is intended for all professionals who work in virtual education or wish to do so, as well as teachers and managers of all academic levels.  The online program lasts 12 weeks, available only in Spanish. It´s supported by the OAS School of Governance.

Deadline to Register to the Virtual Course: “Rights and Gender Equality Approach in Policies, Programs and Projects”

This course aims to strengthen the capacities of individuals and institutions to follow-up and comply with international and Inter-American political commitments, in order to ensure guarantees and protection of women's human rights and gender equality. It is intended for public officials and professionals who participate in the design, formulation, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of policies, projects and programs in the field. The course is offered by the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and the OAS Educational Portal of the Americas. It is a 12 week online program, available only in Spanish, and is supported by the OAS School of Governance.

This course is intended for public officials, academics and civil society in the Americas interested in acquiring the main concepts for a modern management of purchases and the government procurement of goods and services. The course starts on March 3, and it will last 7 weeks. This course will be available only in Spanish and it will be offered through the virtual campus of the School of Governance.

Deadline to Apply for the Virtual Course “Open Government in the Americas”

The virtual course is intended for public officials, academics and representatives of civil society of the Americas interested in identifying the conceptual grounds for the development of Open Government. The course presents success stories and strategies for the implementation of open government projects focusing on transparency, collaboration and citizen participation. The course will be available only in Spanish and it will be offered through the virtual campus of the School of Governance from March 3 to April 24.

Second Module of the “Senior Political Management Program”
 
This program is intended for people interested in learning about governance, public policy generation, political leadership, and political communication. The second module focuses on Human Rights and offers effective and innovative tools for the positioning of a government or senior management. It is organized by the School of Governance of the OAS and the Inter-American Center for Political Management, and it will be available only in Spanish. Registrations closed on November 22, 2019.

The Trust for the Americas Co-sponsors the “GSI Forum LATAM”

The Forum aims to bring together investors, entrepreneurs and other actors to generate an open and honest dialogue that promotes the sharing of experiences, best practices and the co-creation of innovative solutions to foster investment with a gender perspective and equality in Latin America. The Trust for the Americas is a non-profit organization affiliated with the OAS, It is co-sponsor of the event and will present the experience of the VIVE Project at a Women's Economic Empowerment panel for violence prevention.

Fourth Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) Ministerial Meeting 

Ministers, heads of delegation, energy agencies, private sector and international development partners will meet to discuss actions to further country engagement and participation under the ECPA umbrella, and share their government’s priorities in energy.  Conscious of the significant opportunities for economic growth and resilience generated by expanded renewable energy use, greater energy efficiency, and the transition toward electric mobility, the ECPA Ministerial will allow for greater dialogue on experiences, policy options, and technologies to ignite sustainable solutions in the Americas. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Energy, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica and the OAS organize the hemispheric meeting.

Deadline to Apply for International Course and Specialization in Public Policies and Gender
 
This online course will provide a theoretical and practical training on situations of structural and gender-specific inequality, based on the international human rights laws of women and their approach from public policies. It is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, government employees, members of civil society organizations and/or professionals with an interest in gender public policies. They are certified by CLACSO and FLACSO Brazil, with the support of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM/OAS) in its capacity as Technical Secretariat of the Follow-up Mechanism of the Convention of Belem do Para (MESECVI/OAS). It has the support of the OAS School of Governance.
