Pat's Veg back to do good in your gut and a human microbiome treat on SBS tonight
If you've read these emails before you might have picked up on my fascination for the human microbiome - or as wikipedia puts it "the ecological community of commensal, symbiotic, and pathogenic micro-organisms that literally share our body space." Excited? Not really? Well here's something to get you on the bacterial express train to healthy bowel flora central - first the return of the Pat's Veg range to our webshop including Cabbage and Carraway, Fennel Kraut, Kim Chi and my current favourite, Mixed Beetroot. And second, tonight there's a two part documentary called Life on Us on SBS One 8.30pm, which is all about the human microbiome. What a week for for Lactobacillus fans - hold me back!
Fair Food Survey: What you've told us so far....
Okay, so more than 200 of you have shared what you think would make Fair Food better. Here's a few of the most popular things you have asked for so far
The ability to swap things in and out of Set Boxes
More delivery days and faster order turnaround
A single person's box and smaller sizes of fruit and veg extras
These improvements will be at the top of our to-do list for this coming year. The survey is open for a few more days if you'd like to tell us what you think would make Fair Food a better service - you can find the survey here.
Noleen's heritage pumpkins coming this week
Noleen from Emmaline farm in Buxton has been threatening to bring her heritage pumpkins to town for a couple of weeks now. We think we'll finally see her and her amazing pumpkins this week. This is a picture of last year's crop, this year Noleen says she has even more varieties. We'll make them available as soon as they arrive so look out in the Fruit & Veg section of the webstore - they'll be available for a month or so.
As promised last week Paul Haar brought in a load of his beautiful feijoas - they're in the Fruit and Veg section and also in Gourmet Boxes this week.
Welcome Nicole our new Food Host in the Brunswick East
Nicole is our new Brunswick East Food Host replacing Jesse and Mel, who have moved out of the neighbourhood. Nicole is a long time Fair Food customer and her place is on Albion St across the road from Jones Park and very handy to CERES, Brunswick East Primary, the Russian Orthodox Church (the one with the gold onion minarets) and also the Brunswick Velodrome.
