October 3, 2019
In the coming weeks, my staff and I will be out in the community meeting and talking with neighborhood groups. I'll be speaking at local block club meetings and my office will host a series of Town Hall Meetings, as well as meetings with CDOT and CTA regarding upcoming projects. As your Alderman, it is extremely important to hear from you on issues like the City Budget, local infrastructure improvements, and other issues that impact your life. I hope to see you this fall.
See the full schedule below:
Town Hall Meetings
I will host four Town Hall Meetings in different corners of the ward. These meetings are an opportunity for me to share updates from my office and from City Hall, as well as to answer questions from neighbors and gather your ideas on how to make our community even stronger. I hope you can join me for the meeting closest to your home. We plan to livestream the final Town Hall on Facebook Live, for those who are unable to attend the meetings.
- Thursday, October 10, 6:30pm - Somerset Place Apartments, 5009 N. Sheridan
- Tuesday, October 15, 6:30pm - Firehouse Chicago, 1545 W. Rosemont
- Wednesday, October 16, 6:30pm - Emanuel Congregation, 5959 N. Sheridan
- Tuesday, October 22, 6:30pm - Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark (This meeting will also be streamed from our Facebook account)
Lake Shore Drive Northern Terminus Study Meetings
Many of you have participated in community meetings over the years for the Northern Terminus Traffic Study (NTTS) portion of the Redefine the Drive North Lake Shore Drive study. As part of this study, CDOT reviewed traffic patterns on Sheridan and Broadway north of Bryn Mawr. We will host two meetings in partnership with CDOT to review and provide feedback on proposed alternatives for new traffic plans on Sheridan and Broadway north of Bryn Mawr. These areas receive high volumes of traffic and are critical points in the community. I encourage you to join us for one of the meetings to share your feedback.
The meeting formats for both meetings will be the same, including a presentation and workshop. Additionally, the second meeting will feature an optional "walkshop" for those interested in heading out to the locations in question with CDOT engineers to discuss challenges and potential solutions out in the field. We will share more information about the meetings closer to the dates.
- Wednesday, October 30, 6:30pm - Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway
- Saturday, November 2, 10am - St. Andrew Greek Church, 5649 N. Sheridan
CTA Red Purple Modernization Meetings -- Save the dates
As our community braces for the largest public works project in our lifetime, CTA and the RPM contractor Walsh-Fluor will host another round of community meetings to share new information about plans for the coming construction project.
We are still finalizing venue details, but please mark your calendar for the following dates:
- Tuesday, November 19 (South of Foster businesses & residents)
- Thursday, November 21 (North of Foster businesses & residents)
I hope you'll be able to join us for some of these meetings to share your input. We are also working to finalize a meeting in partnership with 49th Ward Alderwoman Maria Hadden regarding rising lake levels and will share information as those details are available.
As always, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, concerns, or ideas.
Alderman, 48th Ward
