Is Cogmed Affordable?
The short answer with the long-term view:  Yes.

At $1500 this is about what most people pay for ADHD medicine and psychiatric care in one year.

It is much less than is typically paid over 3 years.

When you consider the long-term Cogmed is affordable.  It may be a challenge in the short term (see Note below), but in the long-term it costs less than most other options.  You will be spending much more over time as you struggle with other approaches.

This table is based upon estimates of ADHD interventions published with the MTA study in 2009.  The MTA study, the Multi-Modal Treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is the best and largest study of ADHD treatment ever done.   This study included estimates of expenses.  As you can see when compared over three years Cogmed Working Memory TrainingTM compares quite favorably to other approaches including medication.  It is much more reasonably priced than any other approach or program.  Additionally the expense for all the other interventions would continue to grow because they continue to be needed.  The vast majority of people do not ‘redo’ Cogmed.

A better question to ask yourself:

Can I afford to ignore this option?

Besides right now you can get a Summer Discount.

This will not be offered in the fall.

Right now is the best time to do Cogmed.

If you ignore Cogmed most likely you are looking at using an ADHD medicine for several years. When you finish what do you have?

You have a person who can’t focus without their medicine.

What do you get with Cogmed?

You get 80% of the people who show significant real world benefits of improved attention, better impulse control, better complex reasoning, better academic performance, and improved social skills.  You make progress and it does not depend on a pill. It depends upon the work you put into the program.

This does not mean that Cogmed will replace ADHD medicine.   That is an issue that varies from person to person, but can you simply ignore this viable option for improving attention?

(Note:  Normally, Cogmed requires full payment at the beginning of the program.  However, if you need to prepay over time before starting the training we can do that.  If you need to split the money into two payments we can do that.)
