As many of you know, there are quite a few Road Rally Charities faithful that also compete in a couple of endurance road racing circuits---that is nearly all sweat and fun and very little seriousness... in fact, the cars are penalized if they're valued at more than $500!   (we can see it now... many of you are already wondering why you don't know about this, and want to know how to put together your own crapcan racer...)

Welcome to ChumpCar – North America’s home for $500 race cars and 24 hour endurance road racing. This series is for gear-heads; for people who love driving and driving fast. It’s for grassroots race teams and almost-race-ready cars. ChumpCar is a throw-back to the era when racing was fun and cheap… when Bondo beat carbon-fiber; when a crescent wrench was the most valuable tool in your box; when home-made engineering made everyone sit up and take notice; and when adding a little theme to your car didn’t get you laughed out of the pit. Those were good times… and they’re back.

This weekend, the ChumpCar Series is at the Iowa Speedway, and they need volunteers!  Many of us will be out there in our full race gear going for the glory of trying to keep our piece of crap for over 24 hours of racing....  and we'd love to see you out there!

Now, we don't know exactly what they're looking for... but we bet that if you have a desire to be out there helping with stuff, then they can find a place for you.  In ChumpCar Lloyd's words, they are hurting for volunteers for the tower, pits and "gophers".   We already know of a few people on this RRC list that will be out there helping...

We can guarantee that you'll see things you'v never seen before, smell things you've never smelled before, and probably hear things you've never heard before...  so if you're looking for a unique alternative to you're weekends plans, or want to get all greasy and sweaty before heading down to the Arts Festival, then we think you should contact Lloyd and let him know you're willing to help out.  

Of course, you can come out just to watch too...  I think there's a fee, but we're pretty sure the experience will be priceless... what's a few bucks when you know there's going to be a bajillion photo opps worthy of winning the Blue Ribbon at the Iowa State Fair?

And make sure you come down to say hey to the guys and gals driving the RRC Porsche 914 and Honda Civic....  we're sure it will be a tight race!
