TeaPartyNation.com About Us Tea Party Nation is an organization dedicated to bringing our patriots together to stand up for, and defend our principles, and values, as Americans who believe in the individuals rights for life, liberty, personal property, and their right to pursue happiness for themselves. Americans who believe in our country, and families, and economic freedom. We are people who know our rights are unalienable, and are written into the Bill of Rights. TPN believes that a federal government must be limited in it's powers to only those enumerated by the Constitution of the United States of America. All of the founding Doctrines of Freedom are as important to the future of America as they have ever been, and if we are to maintain this great and free society- we must be both vigilant, and active in our roles to guard our republic against tyranny, and for our continuing liberty. TeaPartyNation.com website provides a meeting place in the exchange of ideas for furthering our dedication to the preservation of the American way of life- through doing our best in helping create and build strong grass root organizations across the nation. We encourage individuals to join a tea party group locally, and to use TPN as a destination to learn and to network with other patriots. Featured Member(s) Jack Enright Buxton, Derbyshire, England Jack Enright was born in London, 1947, parents 1st/2nd generation Irish immigrants. "Always hated London, left when I was 20, and lived in small towns, villages, and "in the sticks" ever since. Growing up in East London was an education. No adventure playgrounds, but plenty of bombed sites left over from the blitz in 1940/41. It took a while to understand where those big gaps in the houses came from. Now live in the Peak District of Derbyshire. (single, no children) My dad and five uncles were all in the war. Will in the Marines, Mick in the RAF, dad, Frank and Len in the Army, and Chris and Aunt Kath at Woolwich Arsenal (working in a munitions factory in central London, thru the blitz!). Frank was a Warrant Officer (Company Sergeant Major), and posted back from the Desert Rats to England, to take a commission, but died when his troopship was sunk in the Atlantic. My dad, and all the others bar Mick were dead before they were 55. Jobs have ranged from space age electronics, in the RAF and Aberdeen University, through design engineering of industrial instruments, to steam loco fitting and working as a shoeing smith in very rural Somerset! Voluntarily, I've also worked as a fireman (stoker), and signalman (dispatcher) on preserved steam railways. Another side has been working with horses, from Libyan Barb stallions used as polo ponies, to heavy draft horses, to Welsh Cob trail ponies. I have a gift for empathizing with horses, and hands-on healing in some cases (which scared the blazes out of my logical mind!) My interest in TPN stems from the creeping oppression and erosion of our liberties, both from the EU and from Westminster - and my anger at the way the sacrifices of so many people have been betrayed. My views of TPN- totally in the spirit of the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. No wonder the "liberal left" are scared of you! One of my reasons for wanting to encourage TPN members as best I can is that, as has happened so often before, what you do over there has a direct impact on us over here. After America won it's independence, I'm sure there were many in the British establishment who sincerely hoped it would fail, and descend into anarchy, as happened in France in 1789 - so that they could hold you up as a dire warning to those who wanted more liberty in England. But, far from failing, you succeeded - and gave great encouragement to English people who were campaigning for the extension of the vote, and others who wanted poor people to have the opportunities to better themselves, rather than being kept downtrodden. So your struggle against the 'big government' approach of the current administration mirrors our own fight against the creeping tyranny of the EU, and their self-serving supporters in the political class. And, if you think that ordinary people can't make a difference, remember that one of the most effective weapons that the West had in opposing communism in Europe was what East Germans saw every time they looked across the border; ordinary West German families living well and happily. What could the KGB and the Red Army do to fight that? My only word of warning would be this. If you get into a fight with people who loudly claim to hold the high moral ground, know that they will fight as dirty as a cornered wild-cat. And the more they spout about their high ideals, and their humanitarianism, the more vicious they are. Watch your backs! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sarah May Durand Louisville, Kentucky Sarah Durand is originally from Louisville, KY and makes her home there with her husband of five years, Dave, who is an entrepreneur and small business owner. They have two children, Lucy 4, and Oscar who is 15 months. Sarah works in the field of web design and web system management. She enjoys painting and stained glass artistry. She admits to being "addicted to talk radio".
I work in the field of web design and web system management. About her local Tea Party group she says, "Our local group is run by Wendy Caswell, who is actually a Democrat. Like most tea parties, ours doesn't consist of the 'stereotypical protesters' but are normal people who feel called to stand up for the principles of our founding fathers." Like many people within the Tea Party movement, Sarah never thought she would become active in something like this. "I tend to be shy and quiet," she said. But "I couldn't just stand idly by, watching our country's principles destroyed. I do not ever want to have to look my children in the eyes, telling them about the once free America we lived in, and not be able to say that I did everything in my power to stop it." Apart from attending my local tea parties, Sarah has "taken more of an interest in America's children, and the liberal indoctrination that they are bombarded with everyday from Disney movies to the public school system." "I believe, that no matter what we do now to take our country back , it has little meaning if we do not take back our children--we will only be fighting this battle over and over again." "After spending quite some time searching for conservative books that would speak to my children and teach them the traditional American values that I hold dear, I decided to just start writing them myself! Once I tapped into that spirit, the words just spilled out. I've written two books so far, and I've just completed the illustration and publishing of the first called Melontown Gets a New Mayor. I've used my favorite children's style of 'Dr. Seussical rhyming' to convey a message of liberty, self-empowerment, and the problems created when the government gets too big. My children are my labor of love, and I cannot read these stories to them without tearing up because they represent the ideologies of freedom and American values that I hope to pass down to them." No longer content to sit on the sidelines, Sarah plans to run for office. "Next up, I'm considering running for school board. Instead of complaining about the school system, we have a responsibility to make it into a place where we want to send our kids." The most recent rally she attended was the Tea Party Express Rally's stop in Louisville earlier this month. "We had about 4500 people show up! It was very exciting, and wonderful to be in a group with so many like-minded people standing up for liberty. Because it was at a park with activities for the kids like face-painting, everyone enjoyed it. These events are a great networking opportunity to see how you can get more involved and make a difference. Our Founding Fathers intended for every citizen to have a voice, and it's time to take that voice back." Sarah joined Tea Party Nation after stumbling "upon the site many times over looking for Tea Party news". "I met Sherry Phillips at the Smart Girl Politics Summit in Nashville. We had lunch together, chatted about politics, and our children, and she invited me to join the site." TPN provides a way for people in different regions to bounce ideas off of one another and improve upon what's going on in their communities. From a web designer's perspective, it is a very well designed site, is user-friendly, and easy to navigate. That's hard to come by in grassroots efforts! Sarah encourages others to join TPN and the Tea Party movement. "As a young adult living in a very liberal city, it's difficult to find friends who share my convictions; that's what makes sites like TPN invaluable. Knowing we are not alone, and uniting our voices as one is how we can turn this mess around." Way before the latest round of un-American government outrages, "We the People" were fed up, and we began forming the tea parties. The tea party movement seems to be the one island of sanity of our traditional America we have remaining. Read Dana Loesch's The Tea Party Movement: How We Got Here to recharge your batteries! The Obama Era madness continues- There is the idiot circus at the UN on a variety of issues with the Czech president making more sense than our own- Tyrranical plans being formed in the Congress Over forcing health care mandates- Indoctrination in our schools It's purely sinister, and must be opposed fiercely- And signs of Stalin-ism throughout our government Bypassing the Constitution, stifling dissent, maximizing propaganda, covering for corruption, and using the power of government over the people, while rewarding cronies- In 2010, and again in 2012, we need to end The Era of Obama SGP Summit Held in Nashville by Pam Farnsworth and Sherry Phillips The first Smart Girl Politics Summit (www.smartgirlpolitics.org) was held in downtown Nashville, TN. The event hosted 150 Conservative women from across the country and was sold out. The Summit opened with remarks from the Founders of SGP, Stacy Mott and Teri Christoph. We met women from California to New York who are all hard at work for the cause of conservatism. Jennifer Stinson of United Families International spoke next and relayed stories of how their organization is helping in the international fight to save the family unit from the continued onslaught of liberal ideology. She pointed out that just because the United Way (a United Nations organization) did some good things, it did not excuse the numerous harmful endeavors their agenda promotes. Robin Smith, former Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party, was the second Featured Speaker. Robin was successful in focusing the party's resources on "Taking the Hill" and in 2008 the GOP was able to take control of the TN State Legislature for the first time since Reconstruction. She is running for Congress in Tennessee's Third Congressional District and was a powerful speaker on behalf of principled conservatism. Her message was clear. If you are a conservative in life, you will not change those principles because of polls, or pressure from colleagues. You will stand your ground for what is right. We were then fortunate enough to attend a Breakout Session with American Majority (www.americanmajority.org) on Activist Training. Ned Ryun, President of AM and Austin James, Director of New Media at AM presented a highly informative program that I wish all TPN members could see. Some of the things we took notice of: 1. 85/15 - The percentage of liberals to conservatives on the web. 2. Conservatives dominate Twitter (to find out how to effectively use Twitter in Social activism, go to the AM website and download their "Twittervism" .pdf). 3. Activism has to be more than just attending rallies, you can start with something as simple as gathering a handful of friends for coffee and each of you inviting one more person to come with you every week. TPN Member Doyle Pritchard has done this very thing in Cookeville, TN with amazing results. They now have their own Tea Party group that continues to meet and expand. This is an action every one of us can take. 4. Bloggers are the new Pamphleteers! There are over 200,000,000 bloggers on the internet. They are spreading news and sharing information. Are you one of them? If not, get started! We heard from one woman who started blogging and thought just her mother was reading it at first. She now has over 22,000 readers! We took notes on so much and hope to have them in a download for all TPN members. After lunch, we heard from Liz Cheney. She was an impassioned and eloquent speaker. As we introduced ourselves, I told her I tweeted via my iphone that I am looking forward to seeing her in the White House one day. She would make a wonderful POTUS! (and she didn't need a teleprompter either)! Michelle Malkin spoke to the crowd after Ms. Cheney. Her speech was like her writing: on point, no nonsense and full of relevant and witty information. She held a fundraiser later that evening and was just as gracious, intelligent and beautiful in person as she appears in the media. Keynote Speaker Rep. Marsha Blackburn gave a terrific speech on Leadership. She told the women in attendance not to worry about pedigree, education and having the right credentials to run for office. "Just do it" ! Run for the School Board, County Commission, State Legislature, US Congress. Don't be afraid. Let any criticism roll off your back. She reaffirmed Robin Cook's earlier message. If you hold conservative principles in life, you will be a conservatively principled person in office. Rep. Blackburn is a true leader and I am proud that she represents me in Congress. There was a closing session on Social Media and the Smart Girl where they encouraged all in attendance to Tweet, Blog and spread the word of conservatism Tea Party Nation congratulates Smart Girl Politics on a wonderful, informative and successful first Summit! It's Not About Shopping by Pam Farnsworth This week I’m not writing about shopping the TPN Mall. I just can’t do it. With some current events happening, I am convicted that I have to speak out. Not in judgment of others, but as reaffirmation for myself and why I’m in this fight. To explain to members of TPN why it’s much more than just shopping news. This newsletter will be coming out on the day that our Nation’s Capitol has been turned into a Muslim mosque and more than likely with our “President’s” approval. He has turned his back on the Christian faith he professed during his campaign and openly and arrogantly praises Islam while abandoning our ally, Israel! Week after week I write about shopping the TPN Mall…how you can get specials, discounts, tax free, free shipping, etc. for your every day purchases and how you can support TPN in doing so. I’m pretty sure that most members think that’s all I do all day long…shop. It couldn’t be further from the truth. I spend most of my days much as many, if not all of our members do. Calling, faxing, emailing my reps., attending protests, spreading the word about important information that needs to get online-posting from site to site-networking-attempting to wake up other Americans to the dangers that we’re facing and the need for them to join this fight. Their responsibility not only to those that have died in the past to ensure our freedoms and rights, but to those that, God willing, should come after us. Our children, grandchildren, and future generations. That we have a Biblical responsibility to account to God for that which he has blessed us so fully. Our freedoms, our resources, our rights and an accountability to support the nation of Israel. To sit on the sidelines is not an option…at least not for me…for I am totally convicted that I will be held accountable to God for my actions or inactions during this time of turmoil in our nation as the servants were held accountable in Matthew 25-The Parable of the Talents. While it’s true that I try to find those discounts and money saving opportunities for the week to pass along to others-and to encourage the members to shop through the TPN Mall-the underlying reasons are: - To help others save money any way they can in these horrible economic times-I know it’s a struggle for my family, and appears that it’s only going to worsen.
- To maintain the necessary financial support to keep TPN online for the purpose of networking around the nation, building coalitions, informing the uninformed, driving more people to get involved, spreading that days urgent “Alerts”, and to help others learn and train in what they can do to fight for this country. We MUST work together to motivate and mobilize across this nation using the same methodology that was used to put our Constitution and country in such danger.
So, while it may appear that I’m being trivial and superficial when I write the “Shopping News” each and every week, believe me when I say that there is much going on behind the shopping scenes. If I can provide one bit of information to accomplish any of the above then it’s been a good day for me and hopefully a good day for our country. Psalm 33:12-“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” The editors: Pam is an invaluable member of our leadership here at TPN, and has taken on leading responsibilities for our marketing efforts, planning, operations, resources research, and even proofreader! (as p.r.,she is brutal) Along with her own personal responsibilities as wife and mom, she is a great friend, and source of encouragement to all our team members. Most of you have been welcomed to the site by her also. We are all blessed to have her as an integral part of the TPN team, and we know that she does not just shop, she is a super shopper! Thank you Pam! Good To Know... - Saves you money
