Farmers Markets Save Money & Eat Healthy
Buying produce from local farmers is a great way to save money, learn about where your food comes from and support your local economy. Farmers Markets can be found at multiple locations across Toronto and are open on different days of the week. Visit Toronto's Farmers'Market Network (www.tfmn.ca) for the locations nearest you.
Tips for shopping the markets: - Arrive early to get the freshest & largest selection of goods
- Arrive late to get the best deals & lowest prices
- Do a walk around first to see what items are being offered at different booths and at different prices before purchasing
- Talk to the farmers to see what items they will be offering in the weeks to come so you can stock up & prepare your meals accordingly
- Buy in bulk to get the best savings and plan ahead the recipes you'll be making
- Bring a wheeled cart or your own bags, as flimsy plastic bags are usually given out and as your load increases these bags can rip and be hard to hold
