Which Door Do You Choose?
Let’s Make a Deal! Now, you can choose what is in my pocket or choose what is behind door number 1, 2 or 3. I choose what is behind door number 1. Wah, Wah, Wah, WAAAAAAAH. Ugh! The booby prize again! That is somewhat how I felt last year. Excited to choose and yet confused when the Carol Merrill of the universe showed me what I won. Confused because what I anticipated “winning” was not what I got, or did I. It’s all in how you look at it. No, it wasn’t the shiny new car or the new kitchen stove (thank goodness, Julia Child I am not), it was something much more valuable, an obstacle. What?!? How is that valuable you may ask? The value is in the chance and the choice. The chance to turn the obstacle into an opportunity and choosing to look at it as an opportunity to learn and grow. When you are faced with an obstacle, ask the question, “In regards to this situation, what is here for me to see and know, that I currently don’t see and know?” The answer comes and you get to choose. Choose to continue on the same path or shift your direction and see where it takes you. Recently, I had to ask myself this same question. In a week’s time our furnace went out, the heater in my daughter’s car went out and the timing belt in my car needed to be replaced. Good times. So, after taking care of what needed to be done. I took a moment to get quiet and I asked the question. “In regards to this situation, what is here for me to see and know, that I currently don’t see and know?” The answer was simple. You are out of energy and you need to fuel your body and spirit. I wasn’t running on all cylinders and yet expected my body and spirit to continue going at a fast pace without taking a moment to refuel and replenish. Now, this wasn’t the first time I was given that message. However, I made a choice to continue down the same path and not stop and refuel, so an obstacle or two or three, was placed in front of me. Now, I have made the choice to take these obstacles and learn from them, which has resulted in an opportunity to change the direction I was going in. I now, on a daily basis, make time for myself and gratefully refuel and replenish my body and spirit. Your life is filled with many chances to turn obstacles into opportunities and choose differently in your life. The beauty in all of this is the chance to grow and learn from it. Once you learn it, you don’t have to learn it again, and you can continue skipping along life’s path until the next opportunity to grow and learn shows itself to you in the form of an obstacle. So, let’s make a deal, do you want what is in my pocket or what is behind door number 1, 2 or 3? Wonderful! Carol, show them what they have won! In this ever changing world, it is sometimes easy to forget to take care of yourself. I am here to support and assist you on your journey. Consciously Creating a Wonderful World!
The Consciously Creating a Wonderful World campaign was inspired by the recent events in Haiti. It was created in hope of bringing awareness to the many opportunities in which we can collectively as a whole bring energy to creating community, compassion and understanding to our wonderful world. Consciously Creating a Wonderful World is bringing awareness to a variety of things you can do to help the world. This can be volunteering, donating, picking up a piece of trash on your morning walk or just sending love to another human being.
On Tuesday, January 19th, my co-host of Consciously Creating with Laura and Kelly, Kelly Whetstone and myself, began, Give Back with Gratitude Tuesday's. We have pledged to donate 10% of our Tuesday earnings on 12Angel and 12Listen.com to the non-profit organization we highlight at the beginning of the month. This month we are donating to the organization, Doctor's without Borders in support of the Haitian relief effort.
Throughout, the month on our radio show we will give you green tips and messages on how you can help consciously create a wonderful world. So, join us every Tuesday at Noon Pacific on 12Radio.com and together we can make a difference.

People and Places that Help Awaken the Spirit
Tim Johnson and Justin Swanstrom are the owners of Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore. This quaint store is located in Denver, Colorado and offers an array of quality new age and metaphysical supplies. It also has the largest new age and metaphysical used book section in Denver, Colorado.
In January, 2008, Tim and Justin set out to create a spiritual sanctuary that you could call home, and they have done just that. When you walk into the store, you are greeted by the helpful and knowledgeable staff and the store has a quiet area to sit and read. They offer a variety of classes and have talented and gifted readers who specialize in palmistry, pet communication, tarot, angels, astrology and channeling. They also have book signing events from local and world renowned authors.
