Hi *|FNAME|*,
We send a heartfelt THANK YOU to the nearly one hundred technologists, artists, and change agents who helped make Missoula BarCamp 2010 a resounding success almost two months ago at the University of Montana's School of Business Administration building. Thanks to the sponsors, the volunteer organizers, the people who stacked chairs, held video cameras, and especially to all the folks who just came and brought their passion and responsibility - whether that meant convening a session or just having fun in a stimulating conversation.
It's still possible to enter your session notes, or add comments and other content to the MissoulaBarCamp.org website. If you are receiving this email, you have an account on the website. Login or use your email to retrieve a lost password here: http://missoulabarcamp.org/user
What's happened since Missoula BarCamp on May 1? - Many session reports have been posted - which you can read here: http://missoulabarcamp.org/schedule
- There will be more video to come - but several have been posted to Vimeo - such as Don Collins and Wendy Keilin's opening talks.
- A statewide barcamp conversation is brewing for an event in 2011 - stay tuned.
- The Story of Missoula BarCamp has gone to Berlin at the World Open Space on Open Space (WOSonOS) event where practitioners from around the globe converged. You can see a photo of the Missoula BarCamp t-shirt as I wore it at the Berlin German-Jewish Museum, as taken by Hempal Shrestha, a technology community founder in Nepal.
- The Story of Missoula BarCamp went to Detroit, Michigan for the Open Space event, Create or Die. I was there to do tech support, which was mostly helping maintain the Drupal site, which was supported by the Missoula BarCamp community - especially the Western Montana Drupal Users Group.
- Most of the audio from Wendy Keilin's popular session, Doing What You Love and Making a Prosperous Living is available as a podcast. It's really worth the time. And Wendy has a great new program coming up in the next few days - keep watching her website.
There are so many more stories I could share - but I want to call out a few upcoming events and offerings that might be of interest. - Missoula BarCamp supporter, Karen Marsolek, is one of three organizing the Patricia Hughes event - "Can We Talk?". It's this week - Friday. If you care about creating more inviting spaces for the Missoula community - including the tech, arts, and change communities - please consider attending this training. I hope to see you there!
- There's a lot of feisty, educational, and just plain fun technology meetups going on about every week at the Montana Programmers. Sign up, if you're not a member already.
- Have an iPad - or a Power Book? Interested in all things Apple? http://missoulamac.com/
- If you're a web developer - you might just get your next job or gig with Nathan and Jennifer Stephen's Montana Web Developers & Designers Association - sign up today!
- Do you need to learn Social Media? (Hint, the answer is yes.) There's a great set of Missoula BarCampers at Monica Ray's Missoula Social Media Club who can help you have fun learning how.
Do keep in touch, especially if you think there are things this community should know about. Send me an email at info@missoulabarcamp.org or just post it to our FaceBook page. And please invite folks to sign up to our website so we can invite them to the next Missoula BarCamp.
Until next time, Happy Summer! Harold Shinsato and all the Missoula BarCamp Co-Conspirators |
