19 January 2010 Good afternoon A good opportunity to fight bad roads.
Yesterday we launched a report showing how road building is a huge gamble and poor value for money (did you see us on the BBC?). It's not right to spend around £1 billion a year on road schemes if the Government can’t predict what the impacts will be. You can take advantage of that report and its media coverage by asking the roads minister to place a moratorium on road building until the Government figures out how to assess the impact of a proposed road.
And if you have friends who are concerned about the damage or expense of a proposed road, please forward this email.
I’ve just heard that the Government still hasn’t made up its mind, so you still have time to fight rumoured bus cuts.
If you'd like some wider help on buses, check on our new guide to improving bus networks.
Tell me what you want. Is there an action you'd like us to put on our website to make it easy for you to push for better transport? Please let me know.
Until next month,
 Richard Hebditch Campaigns Director
