About Us
Are you wondering, "What am I going to do with my life?"
Hobnob can help you find an answer. We help students find and connect with their best-matching college majors and career paths.
We do this through our 3i Methodology, a curriculum we deliver through Hobnob bootcamps and Hobnob chapters. The bootcamps are professionally-led career workshops and the chapters are student-led groups on college campuses.
Join the Hobnob movement and find out how good work can be!

September 1, 2009 Welcome back!
Welcome to the September issue of the Hobnob newsletter-- here, as in every issue, we'll share news about the chapters and bootcamps, introduce you to members of our team, let you hear from student Hobnobbers, and give you special bootcamp discounts. We're excited to share our news, and we encourage you to share your feedback with us at contact@hobnobjobs.com.

Our Emory chapter leaders are back in action and excited for another Hobnobbily semester! On August 23rd, Charlie (CEO) and Ann-Sophie (CFO) took to McDonough Field for Emory's annual Student Activity Fair. With the Hobnob chapter banner on display and a treasure trove of blowpops on hand, Charlie and Ann-Sophie signed up an impressive 257 students interested in learning about the Emory Hobnob chapter. Great job, guys-- it'll be a whirlwind semester!
The chapter structure itself has been refined significantly and will consist of 8 weekly meetings each semester-- a kick-off event (this semester features David Cohen, personal branding expert and local entrepreneur), 6 chapter meetings, and a capstone party. Incoming members will spend their semester attending seminars and workshops to determine their values, passions, and talents so they can target majors and careers that are excellent fits for them.
Returning members will spend the semester learning to find, contact, and network with cool people doing cool work in the areas they're interested in. They'll also conduct recorded informational interviews with professionals-- these media spotlights promote the professionals, showcase the students' career research, and create a resource for other students to learn from. Check out some of the example spotlights on our website. (Like everything else, the formula's still being refined-- in the future, we'll probably put a time limit on each spotlight in the future to make them easily digestible.)
We're also excited to ramp up our recruitment for 5 student leaders to launch the GA Tech Hobnob chapter in Spring 2010. They'll need to be smart and determined to manage the hurdles of launching a new organization. Here're some of the benefits chapter leaders enjoy: - A resume-building experience working with mentors focused on developing these students' leadership skills.
- Exclusive access to guest speakers and professionals who can jump start their careers.
- A chance to work with passionate people while influencing a program that aims to impact the world.
If you know someone who'd be a great student leader for the GA Tech Hobnob chapter, encourage them to find information here.

We've been slowly but surely ramping up the bootcamp program. We held partnership meetings in August with representatives from GA Tech, the nonprofit Broken Voices, and Dunwoody, Chattahoochee, Alpharetta, and Westminster High Schools. Since then, we've spent time at Chattahoochee and Alpharetta showing parents how our bootcamps can help their kids find the majors and career paths that fit them best.
Based on a suggestion from the August partnership meetings, we're decided to offer the four bootcamp workshops--focusing on Values, Passions, Talents, and the DISC behavioral assessment--in two formats: all 4 parts in 1 day or 1 per week for 4 weeks. We'll continue to offer the one-day bootcamps in a centralized Atlanta location, but we'll offer the once/week "bite-size" bootcamps on campuses of partnering schools. Listed below are upcoming dates for the one-day bootcamps:
 September 12th November 7th September 26th November 21st October 10th December 5th October 24th December 19th
We're offering 25% off September bootcamps if you register 2 or more attendees at the same time! Need more convincing? Watch the bootcamp video our intern Steve put together!

We're excited to introduce our Emory chapter leaders-- affectionately referred to as "Charlie's Angels." They're sophomores with a year of Hobnob service under their belt, and they're ready to take over campus!
Charlie Cheng: My name is Charlie Cheng. I'm from Hoover, Alabama and am the CEO of Hob Nob. My responsibilities involve connecting with a number of other campus organizations and total world domination. I'm involved with hobnob to help others find their dream careers, and hopefully find my own in the process. Cheers!
Abbi Chaffin: My name is Kristen Abbi Chaffin. I am the Chief Operations Officer for Hobnob @ Emory, and it is my job to make sure that we have the speakers and/or materials we need for each meeting. My big-hairy-audacious-goals for this chapter include obtaining relevant, interesting speakers and growing our membership on campus and on our Facebook page. The idea of investing time now in our lives beyond school makes a LOT of sense to me, and this was the first organization at Emory I found that addressed life after college. After meeting Ben and Phillip, hearing about their goals and purpose for Hobnob, and witnessing firsthand the "humbition" they both practice, it became clear that this organization was worth my time and effort!
Michelle Yang: Hello! I am Michelle Yang from Jacksonville, FL. As your CBO (Chief Brand Officer), you may see me flitting around doing ridiculous things in the name of publicity. My job is to get the word out on any new activities Hobnob is involved in. One of my major goals this year is to expand our group until we become an unbeatable empire (go visit www.hobnobjobs.com/fb). I got involved with Hobnob because I have no idea what I want to do - and felt thoroughly unknowledgeable on job options (a big problem, seeing as it's my future we're talking about! ha ha ha).
Ann-Sophie Luz: My name is Ann-Sophie Luz and I'm from Suwanee, GA. I am the Chief Financial Officer of Hobnob and my position entails organizing sponsors and sponsorships as well as managing the funds for the chapter. I am new to the team and am excited to help the chapter grow. My interest in Hobnob is due to the great idea of helping people find their dream careers. I have already learned so much about myself and what it takes to achieve your goals through this program. I can't wait to see what all Ben & Phillip are going to accomplish with Hobnob and all of the dream careers that students will find!
