Ministry Development Update A big focus for us right now is raising support so we can go back to Slovakia as soon as possible. This last quarter was the first in more than a year that we experienced net growth in our monthly financial support. That's a great sign. We also received some significant one-time support that has helped us prepare for moving and travel costs back to Slovakia. Great news! We are very grateful to God for his faithfulness and to all of our supporters who pray for us and faithfully sacrifice financially to support our ministry. It's also time to let you know that despite the good news we are still lacking about 30% of our monthly support and we'll need to extend our departure goal from July to December of 2010. This is our main item of prayer right now and we appreciate you standing with us in this regard. Teaching in Rockford and Naperville During the months of May - July I'll be doing some teaching stints at the First Evangelical Free Church of Rockford and The Compass Church in Naperville. As a bit of a change I'll be teaching from the New Testament on the book of Acts and the gospel to the ends of the earth. In order to supplement that teaching I'll also be doing a series on our blog on the same topic. You can find the first post at the link below. If you would be interested in having us visit your church, small group, homeschooling co-op or anything else--please contact us using the information at right or below in the footer. We'd love any opportunity to preach or teach or share our ministry. NJ Directors' Conference Jana is finishing up a successful year of Music Together at Trinity. It's been great. She's gained the experience of starting her own business, she's taught a full year in the program, and she's met her financial goals. All of that is going to help her transition to Slovakia where she hopes to use Music Together as a bridge to the community. This past weekend I had the kids all to myself. Jana was in NJ for a Music Together directors' conference where she attended seminars on Music Together philosophy, on designing her web site, on using Music Together for outreach to the disabled or disadvantaged and more. She also got some mentoring time with Lili Levinowitz (one of the Music Together founders) and their international liaison who will be Jana's contact when we're in Slovakia. Overall Jana came away very happy that she's a part of the Music Together organization. For a glimpse into our family life and some of Jana's other interests see this recent post on our blog: For other family posts read about a rattling encounter in AZ: Dissertation Progress My dissertation continues to go well. I (and my readers) continue to be enthusiastic about the topic and my research progress. I've now transitioned more from the research to the writing phase and expect to finish the dissertation by December. Other posts to our blog since our last update Thank you very much for your prayers and for your continued support. |
