Brownswood News
brownswood news - february 2010

Hi folks!
Hope you've managed to settle into the rhythm of 2010. We've hit the ground running what with the Worldwide Awards to organise, the new website to maintain with news, gig dates and DJ mixes, plus a bunch of killer new releases from the Brownswood family to promote. What's coming up then?...

josé james BLACKMAGIC - out now

José James' brand new album BLACKMAGIC is out now. It's the follow-up to his magnificent debut LP - 'The Dreamer' - and it doesn't disappoint, effortlessly straddling the spaces in between soul, jazz and hip hop in fine style. Wax enthusiasts hold tight for the limited edition EP (featuring production from Flying Lotus, Moodymann, DJ Mitsu The Beats and Tayor McFerrin). We've had a nightmare with the manufacturing (read more on that HERE) but it's on its way and worth the wait!!

You can bag your copy of BLACKMAGIC in all good record stores or indeed via Amazon or José James - Blackmagic.

José is on tour throughout March - check the dates on his MySpace.

Worldwide Awards 2010

Monster line-up this year, selling out in record time. Venue is The Garage, 20-22 Highbury Corner, London N5 1RD (opposite Highbury & Islington tube station) and we'll be running to a tight schedule so don't be turning up at 10pm and then moan that you've missed half the acts. Doors open at 7pm and we'll be kicking off promptly. Running order looks like this:

MAIN ROOM

Floating Points Ensemble // Andreya Triana, Fink & Bonobo // Awards Ceremony // Robert Glasper Trio // Theophilus London // El Michels Affair // Sbtrkt // dOP

ALTERNATIVE ROOM

Elan Tamara // Danay // Ghostpoet // Darkstar (DJ set)

***Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, José James will not be appearing.***

For those of you who weren't able to snap up a ticket before the event sold out, it's worth noting that there will be 50 tickets on the door, on a first-come-first-served basis. What's more, we will be letting people in after 11pm (provided capacity allows) at a reduced price of £15.
