“It's Change the World Weekend!”
Did you know this weekend, April 24-25, is Change the World Weekend?
This is the weekend that 900+ United Methodist-sponsored sites will send people out to build community and fight malaria. Check out www.umc.org/changetheworld for ongoing weekend coverage and live streaming today, Sunday April 25th, World Malaria Day at 2pm to hear festive music and messages as you watch the official Imagine No Malaria launch in Austin, Texas – including a free concert by Dove Award-winning band, Jars of Clay.

In honor of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary,
White Rock UMC participated in an international simulcast on Creation Care, a faith-based approach to environmental stewardship.  “Hope for Creation” was a live international simulcast by Blessed Earth with the intent to unite the church in a Biblical vision for care of the planet. If you missed the live program you can still catch the whole recorded event online at http://www.blessedearth.org/live/live.html After the simulcast, author Anna Clark spoke to those in attendance and gave a signed copy of her new book Green, American Style, to Pastor George.   To learn more about creation care and how you can get involved email anna@earthpeopleco.com or for more on all things green, visit www.annamclark.com

Wednesday Jammers

Wed. Jammers did a fabulous job singing, dancing, and performing this past Sunday. It appeared that we all enjoyed the toe-tapping rendition of "Living God's Word." On Mother's Day they will sing "I Can Can" which brings all sorts of images to my mind. It should be cute and fun. As a service the Jammers will sing for CC Young on May 12. Any kiddo that would like join us, come to our practice on Wed. nights from 6:15 to 7:00.

News from Club 1450

We are studying Jacob and relating this story to our own conflicts with siblings.  Exploring various aspects of conflicts and forgiveness will help in our everyday life experiences. We are discovering some interesting facts about twins. This study continues Sunday in our science and storytelling rooms. Come in time to sing along with Pastor Jim and then on to our lesson taught by Cathy and Becky. See you Sunday - Linda

Vacation Bible School 2010
VBS will be July 12 in the evening. We need people to serve in these ways: decorating, teachers, teacher helpers, registrars. The theme is Galactic Blast which suggest planets, sun, neon, black lights, stars, glow in the dark space shapes, starship, galaxy, spaceships and more. The search is on to make this a fun learning experience for our church and the community. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed as well as help in areas mentioned above. Contact Megan Humphrey or Linda Craig with your ideas and let us know how you will help during this active week.

WRUMC Ornaments from UMW

In 1997 and 1998 UMW sold White Rock UMC Christmas ornaments. A few boxes of those ornaments have been found and we would like to make sure that everyone who wants them has them. If you’d like one or several of the ornaments or need replacements for your old ones just stop by the Seminar Classroom Sunday morning between Sunday School and Worship. Donations to UMW are gladly accepted but not required.
