Next Monthly Meeting will be replaced by our
NCA Holiday Potluck Party
Come join us for our annual holiday party on December 13, 2010, at 7:00 pm in the front classroom of Guerin Recreation Center (corner of 16th and Jackson). There will be door prizes and music. Be sure to spread the word to your neighbors who may not be on our e-mail list. Also Please bring an unwrapped toy for our "Toys for Tots" drive.
NCA Safety Reminder
During the holiday season everyone should be careful to not leave anything in their cars, to keep their front lights on overnight, keep your cut Christmas trees in water, and discard any damaged lights.
NCA Membership Drive
To become a member of NCA you must attend at least 2 events or meetings per year and pay $5.00. All membership fees go right back into the community. Download the membership form here. You can e-mail the form to info@newboldcivic.org or give it to Geoff Mang, head of fundraising, at the next monthly meeting.

Tree Planting and Tree Tenders
November's tree planting was a huge success. Over 160 new trees were planted in South Philadelphia by various green groups. If you are interested in becoming a tree tender the next classes are January 9th and 16, 8:30 am - 1 pm. These classes are open to the public and members. Become a part of the "growing" TreeVitalize program designed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to increase Southeast Pennsylvania's tree cover and promote the benefits that trees offer us all. PHS Tree Tenders training is free and includes tree biology, urban stresses on trees, tree identification, basic tree pruning and root care, tree planting, and community organizing.

Christmas Village
Take advantage of unique shopping in the city. The Christmas Village, is an outdoor holiday market event at Dilworth Plaza on the west side of City Hall Philadelphia from Thanksgiving till Christmas Eve. Vendors are in more than 80 wooden booths and a big tent which form a nice little village sell European food, sweets and drinks as well as international seasonal holiday gifts, ornaments and high quality arts and crafts. Jewels of the Season
Couples, families and groups throughout the Philadelphia area look forward to it every year - the Holiday Tours of the Historic Fairmount Park Houses. For two weeks only, the renowned Fairmount Park Houses put on their holiday finery and host special festive tours for all to enjoy. This Philadelphia tradition is the perfect way to start your holiday season and reconnect with friends and family. Six beautiful historical homes will be decked out in various holiday decor with docents to point out the rich history, architecture and unique holiday decorations at each site. South Philly Food Co-op Enthusiasts
Join your fellow co-op supporters on Tuesday, December 7th from 7-10 pm, at the South Philadelphia Tap Room, for half-priced drafts, food specials prepared from local ingredients, and a few surprise door prizes. The suggested donation for this event is $10.
Library Temporarily Closed
South Philadelphia Branch Library does not have heat and will be closed until mid-January. They are very sorry for the inconvenience.
