“Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness.” - George Santayana Happy early Spring from all of us at More of Me to Love! Featured Weekly Tips MENTAL WELLNESS: “Soul Food” by Golda Identifying Our Emotions This week, take a moment, at least 3 times a day, to check in with yourself and ask yourself how you’re feeling. Happy? Sad? Angry? Annoyed? Grateful? What? Don’t judge your emotions: just acknowledge them. Consider writing them down for review, and see how you feel at the end of the week. To learn the value of checking in with your emotions and how to make good decisions based on them, check out this week’s Soul Food post. NUTRITION: “Feed Your Life” by Sara A Gentle Introduction to Whole Foods This week, experiment with whole foods. When you go to the grocery store, pick one thing that you usually get one way, and instead try out its “whole” variety. Pasta is a great place to start because the words are right on the box, but there are many foods that can be purchased in a state of less processing. For instance, rather than canned tomatoes, try using fresh tomatoes this week. There’s no need to go nuts and try to buy everything this way. Just pick one or two things and give their whole versions a shot. If you like the whole version, great! Try others as you feel comfortable. If you don’t like the whole version, consider trying something else “whole” and discovering whether or not you enjoy it more. Want to learn more about easing your way into new nutritional pursuits with Gentle Nutrition while you try your whole food experiment? Then check out Feed Your Life this week. FITNESS: “Fitness For All” by Sue Declare Your Independence from Others Controlling Your Body This week, declare your independence from others controlling your body and pretending to know what foods are right for it in what amounts and with what frequency. How do you declare your independence? You can look in the mirror and say it to yourself. You can write a letter from you to anyone who would tell you what to do to lose weight (sending not required). You can make a sign about your independence and freedom from others’ demands on your body. This week, do something to make it clear that your body is yours and that no one can tell you how to eat for weight loss. Blog Topics, Resources and Forums Word of the Week: Invigorating, by Jay Think about what gives you strength and energy. Is it a trip to the countryside to breath fresh air, clear your head and reflect on life, a unique opportunity to play a pick-up kick-ball game in the local park or treating yourself to an afternoon of relaxation and - oooh - maybe a massage? Think about what invigorates you and consider acting on it. Indeed, do act on it if you can! Spring is coming and after the cold and dormant months it’s time to start shaking off any stagnation that might be resonating and get invigorated! |
