This week, I encourage you to listen to a song that inspires you. The powers of music are often underrated. Think back to high school, college, your wedding and remember being lost in the moment to the tunes of a song.... now play that song and love the moment.
Featured Weekly Tips MENTAL WELLNESS: “Soul Food” by Golda Cut Out Whatever’s No Longer Cutting the Mustard After watching Sex And The City 2 this weekend, it got me thinking about fake drama. For instance, a lot of people create drama and conflict with their friends and loved ones over minor differences of opinion. In fact, all of the conflicts in Sex And The City 2 seem based on this premise! This week, start to think about where you and others in your life create unnecessary drama. It may mean changing the way you deal with certain people in your life. It may mean letting go, to some extent, of your expectations of others. And yet, you may find that it adds a great deal of peace to your life. Check out my review of Sex and the City 2. NUTRITION: “Feed Your Life” by Sara Fatty Foods & Fun in the Sun: Boosting Your Levels of Vitamin D This week, do things to boost your levels of vitamin D that are already good for you. Try these three tips: 1. Consider getting 10-15 minutes of daily sun in non-peak hours without sun protection. If you have a history (whether personal or familial) of skin cancer, you may wish to discuss this with your health care provider. 2. Try eating more fatty fish, egg yolks, and foods fortified with vitamin D. 3. Consider taking a vitamin D supplement or a multivitamin that already has the prescribed amount of vitamin D in it. Learn more about the research surrounding vitamin D in this week’s Feed Your Life. FITNESS: “Fitness For All” by Sue 3 Ways to Use the Power of Our Bodies to Overcome Personal Trauma 1. This week, try these three tips even if you aren’t feeling particularly down about anything because they are shown to raise our moods no matter our state. Most of us don’t initiate our traumas, but at some point we can decide how to deal with them when they happen. Hear about my client who experienced her own trauma and what she’s doing to get through it at Fitness For All.
