Summer's here, the sun is out and that means Where's Cool? travelers are on the prowl for the world's best underrated recreational retreats. Avoid crowds by hitting up the green spots - there's enough nature for all of us. Seek out these grassy knolls for some much needed down time, impromptu picnics, summer concerts, or just to kick back and sky gaze with the locals (By Kat).

JohnS finds constant fascination with this interesting take on a public park, despite the tourist draw. "It's bizzare, unique, beautiful, clashing and wonderful" and large enough to enjoy Gaudi's architecture from your own shady spot.
