A lot has happened since the last news letter from PragueHUB about Coworking in the Czech Republic. This new way of working is finally taking off here as well, triggered a lot of activity in CZ in 2009 and has caused a major change in the approach for PragueHUB.

PragueHUB becoming The Works

The original goal of PragueHUB was to evangelize the Coworking concept (in Prague) and to establish a collaborative space for independent workers.
Due to a number of reasons the PragueHUB physical space did not materialize but at least got the 'Buzz' started.
Not having opened a space turns out not to be that bad after all. Talking to a lot of people operating Coworking spaces abroad, we realized that Coworking is not about the space but starts with a vision and a community that understands and is open to the concepts around collaborative work.

For this reason we have superseded the PragueHUB project with a new project dubbed "The Works".
This project will continue to evangelize Coworking and to bring together a community of independent workers by offering an online collaborative environment plus organizing real life casual working events (so-called Jellies).  These events will be the ideal medium to get the community used to the concept and craft/adapt the concept themselves.

About Jellies, Alex Hillman, co-founder of IndyHall, says in his blog post:

"Jelly is like coworking, but casual and nomadic. Think about the fun of crashing a cafe, someone’s living room, or anywhere that’s got wifi and comfy seats, with a bunch of friends and coworking for the day. It’s the ideal precursor to coworking, and a great way to start at the right place: the community."

The Works Casual Working Events (Jellies)

In line with the above The Works is now very excited about organizing and inviting you for the first Jelly on December 16th 2009 at Galerie (a, a multifunctional space that meets all requirements for a good day of work.
Joining this event is of course free of charge. You'll be able to work, meet fellow Coworkers, bounce around ideas and see some great art in the gallery during your breaks. The lunch during this event will be provided by The Works !
