PragueHub, a better way to work...

Dear people,

this is the first PragueHub newsletter using the services of "mailchimp" to keep you all updated on the developments around PragueHub, the first coworking space in Prague.  If you do not want to receive this newsletter, we apologise (and regret) and please unsubscribe using the links in the footer.

PragueHub is in the process of building a functional but fun place for independent workers to work, meet and socialise with like-minded people. In addition PragueHub wil host informational and fun events organised by us or by our members.

We have defined and will work according to our 5 pillars of coworking; flexibility, openness, accessibility, community and sustainability.

Hopefully in near future we will publish our 'manifesto' that will explain more about the concept of coworking and its foundations.

So whats been going on?

We have been quit busy the last few weeks with a number of things:

  • we are forming a team to establish this project and are gathering 'evangelists' from the people that have offered to help.

  • we are getting alot of help in different areas. For example Jan Kremlacek from kremlacek design offered to help define our brand / design / product framework. Expect him to give some interesting presentation(s) about his design related 'philosophies' at the hub.

  • we are presenting the ideas and the concept to anyone willing to listen (checkout the presentation on Techcrunch on our site)

  • we have gathered valuable information via our survey. Thanks to all that filled it in! Your can find your name on the wall of fame on our site. We will wait a bit longer before we'll give away our prices (and also pixmania is a bit late with shipping...)

  • we've been scouting locations. This is a tough one as we need to find a balance between accessibility and sustainability of the hub.
Selecting a more centrally located (and therefore more expensive) location will have an immediate effect on the financial contribution we need to ask from our members to sustain the hub. We may have found an ideal location in Zizkov on Na Prokopovo Namesti at the base of Zizka 'hill' and would appreciate your thoughts about this location.

  • we are crunching the numbers... We are looking for a model where we can operate and grow while keeping our services as accessible for our members as possible. We will definitely be able to offer a cheaper and more personal environment than any REGUS or business centre in Prague but will not be able to do it for free. Having a lot of people becoming a member for a relatively low fee per month will already help us cover a good part of the costs and therefore to keep the prices as low as possible. More on memberships, prices etc. later.

  • we are thinking about how to build the facility and when and how to launch. Expect an invite to either come and help us paint to earn karma (and some discounted membership maybe) or to celebrate the opening.

  • we have launched a very simple website on www.praguehub.com and will probably contact some of the people that have offered help to make it better. For now, it has to do..

The same counts for this new letter...  more information will come in near future.

Feel free to send any questions or comments via the website or via dave@praguehub.com.

Thanks
