1976-2004 The Castlemaine Rod Shop was created in 1976 by Carol and Rod Hadfield which began in William Street in Castlemaine, where it operated for many years.
In the 1980s it was relocated to a 20 acre site on the Pyrenees Highway, just out of Chewton and 8km from Castlemaine.
Rod and Carol successfully ran the operation up until 2004 when they made the decision to sell the business.
2004-2009 Business owned by Hugh Taylor of NSW.
August 2009 to present Douglas Cormick purchased the business from Hugh Taylor in August 2009 operating as CRS Conversions Pty Ltd and has brought about a breath of fresh air to the business. He has worked for several vehicle restoration firms in the past and has a passion for restoring older vehicles with an impressive photo resume of vehicles that he has restored on both a professional and personal level.
His true passion is for Oldsmobile's (we won't hold that against him) but his interests are wide, having Aussie icons like XY Falcons amongst many others.
He also makes 1934 Ford Coupe fiberglass bodies in his “spare time” with attention to detail being paramount.
Despite the rumors, we are business as usual with all of the existing staff continuing on working with Doug towards soaring to new heights and building the business to a whole new level.
The Future PRODUCTS - We are working on further improving existing products as well as introducing some new ones due to popular demand. We are staying in tune with changing legalities and engineer requirements to ensure that our products meet the demands and needs of both customers and authorities. We are also refining internal processes to improve delivery time and to maximize stock holding on our most popular products.
WEBSITE - Our website is going to see some big changes soon with all Holden models having pictures of the most popular products along with more detailed information on other conversions that we offer. Due to the huge and diverse range of products we offer this has been a time consuming process but we are endeavoring to continuously improve the site to provide as much information as possible.
