Welcome.
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Insights for Nonprofits.
Never has it been more important to communicate and share knowledge and insights in the nonprofit sector. GH&I has a diversified client base of nonprofits and a dedicated, knowledgeable team that has grown steadily for over 20 years. While the challenges of nonprofit clients today have changed since we first served them, it is the developed experience of our team that will help nonprofits succeed and overcome the challenges of this economic environment.
Today’s climate leads me to share this call to action – “Accentuate the positive.” I first heard that phrase back when I was in high school and a friend used it as her campaign slogan for the student body elections. At that relatively worry-free time, the task it directed was not difficult. Life held endless opportunities. Today, of course, the phrase requires more of us. In spite of the current economic challenges, there is opportunity. Nonprofit organizations are going through a self-examination process, seeking fresh insights for improvement and reinvention. Are we relevant? Is our mission clear? Are all of our costs aligned with our mission? Do we collaborate with others to maximize our impact? Organizations that capitalize on the answers and the opportunities within them – accentuating the positive – we believe, will be strengthened and positioned for growth.
Our Insights newsletter is one opportunity and tool, among several we initiated in 2009, to better communicate with and serve the nonprofit sector. We began in January with a seminar on Form 990, followed by sponsor and education roles with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Nonprofit Summit Conference, Community Health Charities of Georgia and Atlanta Woman Magazine’s Community Heroes event. The firm's volunteerism and board participation have grown this year. In August, our annual community service day found us at Camp Twin Lakes, where we cleaned cabins to help welcome the special guests they serve.
We hope you find new tools and knowledge through Insights. We look forward to your contact with us we “accentuate the positive.”
