Client of the Month | Vince and Sheri Martens


Vince and Sheri Martens of Baraboo recently had their bathroom remodeled by Frey Construction.  Their project turned out amazin - so we just had to share!

The Martens bathroom was outdated and in much need of a remodel.  Upon our first meeting with Vince and Sheri, we were just going to remodel the existing bathroom space, but after talking more and evaluating a better way to utilize the space - we found a way to create a bonus room for a new laundry area by eliminating a bedroom closet - which opened up the bathroom and allowed enough space to incorporate an adjoining laundry room.

 Like many of us including Sheri, we have a guilty pleasure in watching remodeling shows on HGTV. Sheri had plenty of ideas on exactly how she wanted the space to look! Particularly, Travertine tiles for the floor and tub surround as well as a dark colored vanity and matching framed mirror from Cabinetry Plus. We were able to achieve the dark Cherry look she wanted by using Birch with a darker stain - an easy way to save a little money, but still get the same rich feel of cherry!

The bathroom and laundry room remodel project turned out so well - it looks better than what you see on HGTV! Now, the Martens have the beautiful bathroom that they always wanted.

Celebrating 15 Quick and Painless Years  1995 - 2010

We are in the beginning planning phases of our up-coming 15-year anniversary celebration.  For those of you that have been to our Frey Family Fun Day event held every June - or those of you that remember our 10-year celebration, which was complete with fireworks...well, our 15-year celebration is going to be way, WAY better than that - it will be the coolest thing since sliced bread...guaranteed!  Watch for details!

We need your help -
Because we can't really shout from the roof tops - we're too busy installing them!  We want to pain the town with Frey and we need your help!  We are asking to "borrow" a little piece of your front lawn for the month of May to put up a small step-in sign announcing our "15 Quick and Painless Years" serving our valued clients.

Would you be willing to allow us to put a small sign in your yard for the month of May?  We will deliver the signs in the first part of May, if you could just leave it in your yard until after Memorial Day, our gratitude will be forever yours!  After May, you can dispose of the sign, reuse it (the make great garage sale signs), or if you want, you could frame it and hang it in your house!  (In other words, you can do with it as you please.)

New Uses for Aluminum Foil

Aluminum Foil as Wrinkle Remover - To get wrinkles our of silk, wool and rayon clothes that can't take direct heat, place a piece of foil in your ironing board, then lay the garment flat over it.  With the steam button down, pass the iron three or four inches over the fabric several times.  Wet heat radiating from the foil helps smooth out wrinkles.

Aluminum Foil as Grilling Helper -  Really hot grill bars equal dramatic grill marks on your porterhouse.  To concentrate the heat and keep if from escaping, lay a sheet of foil over the grill for 10 minutes.  Peel the foil off just before cooking, scrunch it into a ball (it cools fast) and use it later to scrape any residue or ash from the grill bars

Aluminum Foil for a Clear TV Signal - If you DVD player is tacked on top of the TV (or vice versa) and the picture is fussy, the two electromagnetic fields may be commingling, confusing the signals.  (This usually happens with plastic casings; with metal it's less likely.)  Slip a sheet of aluminum foil between the machines to separate the fields.

Aluminum Foil as Paint Protector - Protect doorknobs and hardware in the kitchen and bathroom when you're painting by wrapping foil around them to catch dribbles.  The foil molds to the shape of whatever it's covering and stays firmly in place until the job is complete.

Aluminum Foil as a Glassware Scrubber - To get baked-on food off a glass pan or an over rack, use dish washing liquid and a ball of foil in place of a steel-wool soap pad.  It's one way to recycle those used but perfectly good pieces of foil you hate to throw out.

Aluminum Foil as Pie-crust Protector - To prevent a pie crust from burning while the filling cooks, make a foil collar to deflect heat.  Take a piece of foil about 25 inches long, fold it into thirds lengthwise, and fasten the ends with a paper clip.  Halfway into the baking, slip the collar over the crust.  Leave it on until the pie is done.
