It is unlikely that you are still using home appliances that were purchased 33 years ago. But did you realize that TWR’s vital broadcast facility on the Pacific island of Guam has had the same four 100,000-watt shortwave transmitters since broadcasts began there in 1977?!

The staff has done a phenomenal job of keeping these ancient transmitters going, but it’s getting harder and costlier all the time. One transmitter is already out of commission.
