Compassion for Cambodia

As with many impoverished countries, Cambodia faces its share of social problems. Among the challenging issues include the sexual exploitation of young girls and women, HIV/AIDS, high illiteracy rates and poverty. The primary religion in Cambodia is Buddhism, with a small percentage of Christians and Muslims. TWR currently airs five programs (Thru the Bible, Women of Hope, Happy Children’s Garden, It’s Yours and The Word Today) over 13 FM stations to address issues faced by church leadership, women, children and young people.

Read more about our exciting ministry in the Kingdom of Cambodia and learn how one Cambodian monk is benefitting from the It’s Yours! radio program. See what several listeners have to say about TWR, and then enjoy some authentic Cambodian music and pictures from the Happy Children’s Garden program in a colorful audio-visual presentation. Also, discover interesting facts and figures about Cambodia, and read an informative Q & A with TWR-Asia’s Andrew Sundar.

TWR Featured in the Christian Post

TWR President Lauren Libby was recently featured in the Christian Post. Interviewed in Singapore, Libby answered questions on the role Singaporean churches and believers can play in the ministry of the Christian broadcasters. He referred to Singapore as “one of the most spiritual resource-rich places on earth.”

"God is with me Now"

An Angolan soldier experienced salvation and healing after listening to radio programs on TWR. Here is Emmanuel’s story:

When Emmanuel fell ill, he was sent to a military hospital for treatment. Over the next three months his condition grew progressively worse, and he was in so much pain that he would often lie in bed just screaming. Because he was restricted to his bed, all he could do was listen to the radio.

One day as he was listening, the Women of Hope program came on. As he listened, he felt his spirits lift and he even experienced physical relief from his pain. He began looking forward to a new Women of Hope program each Monday. His doctors and the other patients were amazed by his sudden improvement, and when they asked him why he said, “God is with me now.”

Emmanuel decided to call the number that the presenter gave during the program. Pastor Jorge Batista answered and had the privilege of leading Emmanuel to the Lord during that conversation.
Pastor Jorge was so moved by Emmanuel’s story that he went to the hospital to visit him.  He was amazed by his optimism. “I’m sure I will come out of this situation,” Emmanuel said. “When I do, I will go to church and give my testimony. I know it is God who is healing me, not the doctors.”
Praise the Lord for His faithfulness! Emmanuel will be released from the hospital within the next few weeks. Please continue to pray for TWR’s ministry in Angola. Pray for the ministry team and all the producers who are involved in broadcasting the gospel of Jesus Christ to the needy people of Angola.

Joining God's Family
Below is the story of a TWR Project Hannah listener in Albania:

Bardha found Christ during a very difficult time of her life. She was struggling with deep pain, filled with thoughts of revenge for the people who killed her only brother.  Full of bitterness, she opened her heart to Jesus, allowing herself to feel His peace and joy in her heart.  Today, she is trying to live a life honoring to God.  In the beginning, her husband let her go to church, but, after a few months, he decided not to allow her to go anymore –he didn't want Bardha or their teenage daughter to meet with any fellow followers of Jesus.  As a young Christian, this was very difficult, and her best efforts to convince him otherwise only led to verbal and physical abuse.  In a culture where opposing your husband is unheard of, Bardha didn’t know what to do. She began to feel extreme lonely.

“But when you truly want to know God, He will find a way to satisfy you,” says Bardha. She started listening to the radio and she was blessed to learn more about God and his Kingdom. For one and a half years, Christian radio was her only spiritual source. Bardha was sending TWR SMS messages with daily prayer requests and asking for advice.   TWR prayed for her and her family's situation in the Project Hannah prayer calendar. Two prayer leaders took time to counsel her in her daily situations. Bardha was very concerned for her teenage daughter. She wants to raise her in God’s way, but the situation at home was really difficult. She asked for more programs on how to deal with a non-believing spouse, as well as advice on how a parent should raise children. After much prayer, God answered and her husband allowed her to go to church again.  Now Bardha is enjoying full fellowship in the local church.  TWR is blessed to be a part of what God is doing in her life. She is sharing the gospel with many women that come into her shop.
