MemberCare Radio
On November 5, 1999, the first broadcast of MemberCare Radio (MCR) was aired to encourage cross-cultural workers in their places of calling. MCR is a media ministry of TWR, specifically designed for expatriate workers whose obedience to the Great Commission has taken them to difficult regions.
MCR broadcasts started in response to the growing enthusiasm of member care professionals and mission leaders for using radio to minister to Christian workers in Central Asia. With this in mind, TWR established the pilot project, MemberCare Radio.

Bringing the Bible to Life
TWR is working with OneStory to produce radio programs for the Kanuri people of West Africa. For the millions of people who cannot read or write, oral storytelling could be the only way they may ever hear about Jesus Christ.
Almost four million Kanuri live in northeastern Nigeria, and another two million are spread across southeastern Niger, western Chad and northern Cameroon. The Kanuri are considered one of the unreached people groups of West Africa.
Currently, the only programs in the Kanuri language are a salvation and evangelism program and a teaching program with only a partial focus on the oral aspect of the culture. For oral learners, unless the gospel is presented in an oral format, it is unlikely they will be able to understand or remember the message. Story crafters are aiming to having 20 stories ready before the OneStory program can be produced and broadcast.

TWR's German Partner Celebrates Milestone
On October 26,2009, TWR ministry partner ERF Germany celebrated its 50th anniversary in the Wetzlar Rittal-Arena. Approximately 15,000 guests attended.
TWR President Lauren Libby, who also attended the event, anticipates that media holds a lot of future potential in broadcasting the good news. The partnership has existed since the foundation of ERF. Together these two media organizations are responsible for radio programs in 65 countries and more than 200 languages. Additionally, ERF has been supporting Project Hannah’s worldwide radio program Women of Hope for more than ten years.
Hessen (a German province) Prime Minister Roland Koch recognized the work of ERF on a video-taped greeting. He said he was glad and proud that out of Wetzlar people would receive something they could not find on the normal “market.” Koch wished for ERF to succeed in reaching people’s hearts with their message.
Also, Pastor Horst Marquardt gave an account of ERF's difficult beginning. In 1960 he started with ERF as an editor and took over as director in 1992. Many times the first broadcast through shortwave from Monte Carlo had to be postponed and consequently, the staff was very discouraged. Today he is full of thanksgiving and joy about what come from these turbulent beginnings. Today, ERF employs 230 staff members internationally, creates one 24-hour TV program throughout Germany, three radio programs and 15 Internet portals.
Chairman Jürgen Werth said that ERF will hold fast to the old but timeless good news of Jesus Christ. ERF’s mission is to bring this to the whole world, and “the Word of God needs to be retranslated continuously into today’s language and situations.”

Radios for the World
Imagine living in a place so isolated that traditional missionaries couldn’t bring you the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Or suppose you were a believer trying to live the Christian life without any access to sound biblical teaching. For countless people around the globe this is an everyday reality.
Fortunately, TWR is able to bring the truth of the gospel into these spiritually needy places through our radio distribution and programming initiatives. Listeners living in remote areas—often inaccessible to missionaries or where open evangelism is risky, restricted, or even banned— can benefit from TWR’s edifying and encouraging Christian programs in their own language.
