Fire Mitigation

The Division of Forestry has taken a look at the preserve areas that run behind many of our neighborhoods and has identified some areas that they feel are in need of fire mitigation.  What this entails is some targeted mowing of underbrush in certain areas in order to prevent the spread of any fires should one arise.

They are the experts, they have taken a look at the areas and made the decisions as to where this action is needed.  They have simply asked the district to allow for this to be done and for us to notify residents that this will be occurring.

They have identified some areas in the Natures Hammock subdivision as most in need and will begin their work there.  If other areas are in need, they will proceed from there.

They plan to begin this work as early as tomorrow but possibly not until next week.  Please be aware that you may see them in the area and that they have been authorized to be there.
