Growing Your Business: Growing Ontario Firms The GSCC is offering ten small and medium-sized (SME) member companies an opportunity to enroll in a program designed to expand their revenue, profit and overall size. Funded by a grant from the Government of Ontario and made possible through a collaboration with the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University, Growing Ontario Firms will increase the revenue, profit, and employment growth of your business. Only ten small and medium-sized enterprises with revenues above $500 000 are being accepted. Each participant will recieve a workbook and one-on-one instruction from a Ryerson faculty member in order to determine a company vision, set personal and business goals and create an effective strategic growth plan.
The program will launch this September. To qualify for the program you must: a) have revenues in excess of $500 000; b) be privately owned; and c) a shareholder must be the participant. Remaining openings are extremely limited. For further information please visit the Growing Ontario Firms website at www.growingontariofirms.ryerson.ca, or contact Debbi Nicholson, President & CEO, Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce at 673-7133, ext: 225, or via email.
Can you Name 50 Great Laurentian University Alumni? In less than one year, Laurentian University will turn 50. In recognition of this great half-century accomplishment, the Laurentian University Alumni Association (LUAA) will be recognizing 50 graduates who are the epitome of Laurentian University’s core values - Excellence, Collaboration, Community, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility, and Quality of Life - and who exemplify these values through their scholarly, creative, professional or humanitarian contributions. The 50 selected alumni will be celebrated at a Gala to be held at Laurentian on October 23, 2010. If you know an exceptional individual in your family, community, city, country, workplace, network, circle of friends or beyond (it can even be you!), who is among the 40,000 graduates of Laurentian University since 1960, you are encouraged to submit their nomination before December 31, 2009. You can find all information on the 50 Years of Alumni Achievement Awards and Laurentian’s upcoming anniversary celebrations here. You can also contact Lisa Demers, Director of Alumni Relations, at (705) 675-1151.
Canadian Chamber of Commerce News Last year, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce submitted two policy resolutions (strengthening Canada's position as a global mining leader and tax credits for skills training) as part of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's (CCC) annual submission to the federal government. Recently, the federal government responded to that submission package. Click here to see Minister Diane Finley's letter.
