The old ways of leadership are dead. In a world bloated with data, and bits and bytes of information, many leaders now struggle with making the right decisions. What we need is a new way of leadership thinking. One where the information, data & analytics are acted upon. Decisions are being made now because :- - Done it in the past and it seemed to work
- Other people are doing the same
- Ideology and beliefs
- What we like
- What Is being hyped – fads & fashions.
Because of these 5 reasons we end up with decisions that can lead the business down many dead ends. I believe we need to be very conscious of the numbers, data and analytics in making decisions. We need Leadership of So What. When considering a course of action ask these questions :- - So what evidence / data / information / facts are available that would help?
- So what has been done in our business before that would give insight?
- So what has been done by other businesses that would provide insight?
With these questions we will be forced to consider the data before making a rash decision. Having the analytics and data will give a strong foundation to launch into true innovation. Don’t ignore the facts.
