Help for Speakers Tip of the Week
Does your Powerpoint have the "X" Factor?

I was at a meeting recently when the laptop supplied by the vneue still had the old version of PowerPoint - the one that saves files as .ppt, not the new format with the "x" - .pptx.

Instead of a smooth running presentation, up popped an error message.  Old versions of PowerPoint don't automatically run those creatived in PowerPoint 2007 or 2010.

Luckily on this occasion there was only a short delay in the meeting after a quick trip to retrieve an alternative laptop from the car.

It's always nicest to use your own laptop, but if you're using someone else's laptop for a presentation, check which version of powerpoint they're using.

Better yet - save your presentation as a .ppt file as a backup.  It may not run the fanciest options, but it will give you something to turn to if the laptop supplied causes problems.

"If you're looking for coaching you'll find Rachel authentic, up-beat and able to champion you and your confidence" LM

"We were thrilled with Rachel's presentation, she got audience interaction straight away.  Her energetic and enthusiastic style swept the audience along with her". JM

"Rachel delivered her message with clarity, enthusiasm and professionalism.  She had obviously prepared well, and we enjoyed her interactive style and thought-provoking presentation. Her use of humour, as well as her ability to connect with her audience, was outstanding.   Our speakers are allowed 20 minutes which Rachel timed to perfection.  There were plenty of people who wanted to engage with Rachel immediately after her presentation, which is a good sign that people wanted to learn more"
