Stylist Q&A with Teri Q: So, beach hair is a summer trend – how can I get that look?
A: The great thing about beach hair is that it’s casual and not too overdone. Start by enhancing your color with some highlights, especially around your face. Go a few shades lighter than your natural color to get that “I just spent a week on the beach” look.
From a styling perspective, even if you don’t live on the coast, you can mimic the effects of the ocean, which naturally adds texture to hair giving it a not-so-perfect look. Start by diluting a small amount of salt in a spray bottle of warm water. Spray a little saltwater on towel-dried hair and style. Consider adding big waves that look a little roughed up and finish with hairspray or try adding a small braid around your face. The Technique Foiled Again is now carrying a new product line developed by Elan Sassoon (Vidal’s son) called Sojourn. To name a few perks, Sojourn works to balance hair’s pH levels, maintains ecological integrity (100% biodegradable and no harmful ingredients) and was developed just for stylists so that they can help clients look great.
And if you’re a Davines devotee, don’t worry – the Sojourn line is an addition, not a replacement. Michele's Message Art-A-Whirl is one of my favorite weekends of the year in Minneapolis. Not only did I graduate from art school, but when my husband and I started dating, Art-A-Whirl was one of our first dates. So, to celebrate this year’s Art-A-Whirl event, we had an art show at the salon. Check out snapshots from our friends + art + community event. - Michele Vevang, salon owner |
