Project H is in the running (a fierce competition!) for $50,000 in funding from the Pepsi Refresh grant program, to launch Studio H, a 1-year design and vocational program for high school students in Bertie County, the poorest county in North Carolina. We're currently ranked 10th in the $50K group and have to stay in the top 10 in order to win the funding!

We've been working in partnership with the Bertie County School District this past year on a number of "design for education" initiatives including Learning Landscape math playgrounds and new computer labs. My partner Matt Miller and I will be moving there this summer to get Studio H started for the fall semester. $50,000 would fund our entire shop space build-out and the first year's construction materials (each year, we'll teach design and construction, and build one big community project with the students, starting with networked bus shelters for their school bus system)!
