Welcome to the June edition of the IWS newsletter. In this edition; good news for commissioners and anyone supporting parents and carers: Free Mephedrone Briefings In response to the need for information on Mephedrone and other 'next generation' legal highs IWS are currently offering up to five Drug and Alcohol Action Teams a fully hosted free 2 hour Mephedrone Briefing for practitioners in your region. With well received briefings recently delivered to over 300 front-line staff (in association with Hampshire DAAT) IWS are pleased to extend the offer further afield as part of our Social Enterprise status. If you would like to find out more or register your interest please contact Matt Hayman on 0845 257 2420 or by email. Parent/Carer 'Tips by Email' Resource In order to deliver drug information to parents and carers in way that fits with hectic lifestyles IWS have launched a free 'Tips by Email' service. Subscribers receive an email once a week for six weeks - breaking drugs information into bite-size chunks. There's also a podcast version of each email too.
The project forms part of the Nottingham DrugAware Award, led by Nottingham Crime and Drugs Partnership, but is available to anyone - wherever they live. The sign-up form can be found here, and the link can be forwarded to anyone. 'Drugs and The Brain' workshops Looking to take your drugs knowledge to the next level? Limited places are currently available on our hugely popular 'Drugs and The Brain' workshop - examining why all drugs have different effects and what makes these seemingly different drugs addictive. People enjoy the course because we translate the findings of science in ways that make it easier to understand the subject, with plenty of time spent applying the learning to the real world.
The workshop is filled with interactive activities that guide you through this fascinating subject. For more information, previous feedback, and online booking please visit the our events page here. Thanks for reading. Regards
