The development cycles for the next installments of both Apple and Microsoft's newest operating systems are starting to wind down. Apple is set to release version 10.6—or Snow Leopard—this fall for $29 and Microsoft is only weeks away from releasing the final version of their landmark operating system, Windows 7, to manufacturers (prices will range from $119 to 319). At Ars we've been covering both of these new OSs for months, and in some cases years, and the news about the final revisions of both are starting to trickle out.
