The evolution of a logo design

Have you ever wondered what the first Apple logo looked like? Over the 30 years since starting, they have evolved considerably. When Apple started, the logo was a complicated picture of Isaac Newton sitting under a tree. This had been designed by the owners Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne, with the inscription: “Newton … A Mind Forever Voyaging Through Strange Seas of Thought … Alone.” (Frankly, I don’t think this was just a coincidence Apple had slow sales during this logo!).

However, when they commissioned a graphic designer, Rob Janoff to simplify the logo, he created the
original 'Rainbow Apple' (1976-1998), based on the concept of Newton's apple plus Apple's colour graphics of their machines. The current logo now follows the design style of it's products, like the iPhone and the new iMac and has become one of the world’s most renowned brand symbols.

As with all things in the world, the natural progression is to grow and evolve. If a company does not regularly refine their image or message to fit their target audience, they stagnate and their competitors will eventually take the lead.

I don't do words...I do pictures...!

For my recent one minute presentation at The Bath Business Club, I wrote out cards with my speech
and also examples of work written on them, with music playing in the background. (Thanks to Paul Lewis for the original idea). Click on the image below to view it:

The Wine Grapevine website...

Designbull worked with E-CRM to create the branding and website designs for a recently launched wine retail site. We created the logo, icons, user interface and trained the clients in using Photoshop so that they could regularly update the banner ads themselves. Click on the image below to view the site:
