Today Rhizome is launching our annual Community Campaign! True to our founding as an artist centered network focused on a new medium, all our current activities further a dynamic and groundbreaking art form, and an international community around it. We ask that you consider becoming a member now to help us meet our vital $35,000 Community Campaign goal, which will support our programs and services to artists this year.

Thanks to support raised from our last Community Campaign, Rhizome awarded eleven commissions to support the creation of challenging new art, presented the work of hundreds of artists—many new or under-recognized--through our website and events, published in-depth features and daily art news, and organized forums for our community to collaborate and debate ideas.
With funds raised through our 2009 Community Campaign, we will:
- Complete an upgrade of our online archive, the ArtBase, which holds over 2,500 works of digital art. Intended to enhance the understanding and visibility of new media art long-term, this overhaul involves a ground-up rebuild of the ArtBase, the integration of a more user-friendly, robust interface, and the inclusion of new metadata standards that will enrich each art entry.
- Re-launch our website with more collaborative features. Scheduled to launch with the new ArtBase in spring 2010, the re-designed website will support artistic experimentation by providing more opportunities for artist to connect.
- Continue and strengthen our key programming, such as the Commissions Program, the Writers Initiative, and New Silent Series – all designed to bring emerging artists working with technology to the forefront
All of these initiatives are done in service to our community. But, we need your support to realize them. As an independent 501(c)3, Rhizome’s fundraising is entirely independent; we rely primarily on foundations, government agencies, an annual benefit and our community for support.
