Where we are based in Norfolk access to broadband can be very patchy. Read what one of our satisfied clients has to say about the differences it has made to his business.
The text below is an unedited email to a Norfolk MP by a satisfied client. Only the names have been changed.
“Dear local MP,
Matters have progressed at this end but only after BT wasting several weeks of my time.
We went ahead with the installation of a new phone cum broadband line, having been assured by BT that it would support a normal wireless service plus telephone line.
Open Reach duly arrived to install the line, and I asked the engineer if it would support broadband, and he thought not. However, we went ahead with the installation, on the understanding with BT that if it didn't work, we weren't paying.
No surprise, we didn't manage to connect at all!
The problem is clearly that there are more users, and existing users are overloading the system by downloading U Tube, BBC I Player, films etc.etc. and being at the end of the line, we just get what's left.
Clearly BT are simply not addressing the problem of an inadequate line service, and even urban areas are experiencing a much reduced quality of service.
Well thankfully, we have managed to find a solution to the problem through a satellite dish, and we now have what my computer man thinks is a very good service. OK, it's a bit more expensive, but these days so much of what goes on is geared to Internet only access, that you just can't really operate without it.
We did it through an excellent chap in Heacham who I think you wrote to in July last year called Richard Dix of Rural Broadband. In your letter you suggested we might have a bit of a promotion of the service which satellite can offer, and I would certainly like to be present as I strongly feel that BT are a shambles and in the words of Captain Mannering 'they don't like it up 'em'. A bit of cold steel!
The whole saga for me has been an absolute disgrace - third world you might say, and I think Richard Dix has a great product which once you have paid for the installation is actually competitive in terms of the Internet provision as you don't need a phone line - brilliant.
I would like to help promote this if you will join us, it's great.
Kind regards,
Customer“
