Punky funk meets Futurism and homespun electro in this paradoxical grouping of artists from far ends of the musical spectrum. Skeleton$ has been described by Pitchfork Magazine as “an outsize global-a-go-go mélange of unceasing polyrhythms, Afrobeat guitars, free jazz, and Timbaland’s approach to kitchen-sink percussion.” Protean italian composer Luciano Chessa will perform Futurist poetry and a piece for piano and stuffed animal. To top it off, the inimitable Dan Deacon, exuberant manufacturer of indie noise-dance, will shakes the spackle off the walls and your hands into the air. Nuclear Power Pants opens the whole shebang.

Garth Knox, one of the world’s few acknowledged viola virtuosi presents a concert of music written for that instrument and its Baroque relative, the viola d’amore. The program will range from Tobias Hume’s 1605 Pavane to one of Knox’s own compositions, and include the world premier of a new piece for viola d’amore and electronics by English composer James Dillon, commissioned by the French band Art Zoyd. The artist will give a talk before the performance.
