Welcome to Restoration Praise Center's Informer. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives, not just on Sabbath, but during the week. Our goal is to keep you abreast of not only RPCs activities, but community events as well. We hope you find this a blessing during your week! 

July 31: RPC Block Party
The Block Party is finally here! This Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm, please come out to help us serve our community. If you are coming after church, please remember to bring a change of casual clothes with you. If you are coming straight to the site, please come dressed appropriately--it will be hot but please remember we are representing the Lord! If you are coming to help set up, please arrive by 8 a.m. We will also need help breaking everything down; please be prepared to stay until 7:30 p.m.
 
If you are still looking for ways to help out, we need your help in the following areas: registration (Tisha: tdb913@gmail.com), hospitality (Kelli: kellithompson77@gmail.com), setup/breakdown (Jewel: jewelwalwyn@yahoo.com); we still need school supplies: rulers, pens, looseleaf paper, and book bags (Thalia: md2003blue@gmail.com)  Please contact the names of the people listed to offer your support!
 
Don't forget to order your Block Party tshirt online www.rpcsda.org --t-shirts will be ready for pick up Sabbath morning at the block party site. Please continue to pray for the success of the the block party as we reach out to our community.

August 7: Heart2Heart Meeting
The next couples ministry meeting will be next Sabbath – August 7th at 7:00 p.m. There will be a panel discussion on the topic “Technology and Relationships.” You won’t want to miss this one!

RPC's Health Ministry is hosting a Jamaican Cookery - Veggie Style class on August 14 at 7:30 p.m. Learn how to jerk tofu, create curries, and make somtings. Bring Island cooking to your home!

RPC Block Party: Volunteers Needed
The 2nd Annual RPC Community Outreach Block Party is almost here and we need your help!  We still need volunteers to help promote and advertise for this event. Each Sabbath, after church, we will briefly meet in the lobby and go into the neighborhood to distribute flyers. Please bring comfortable shoes and a change of clothes if you would like. We encourage you to take flyers for your friends, co-workers and neighbors. Thank you in advance for your participation in making this year's block party a great success.


RPC School Supply Drive
The 2nd Annual Restoration Praise Center Community Outreach Block Party is here. You may still bring your supplies to block party this Sabbath.

Please note: Staples has backpacks 50% off this week. With a $5 purchase, they have bottled glue on sale for a penny. Target also has backpacks for $9. Walmart has notebooks (70 sheets) for 15 cents, crayons for 25 cents and many more items at a reasonable price. We're still in need of school supplies and backpacks.

RPC 21 Day Challenge

On June 26, 2010; Pastor Paul Graham preached about how it takes 21 consecutive days to make a beneficial habit and to break an abominable one. The challenge started on July 18th and we're already 12 days in!

Writing For The Women's Ministry Devotional Book

Last Call! One more week left before the August 1st deadline to submit your Women’s Ministry devotional article for review by RPC editors. Women’s Ministry is a Ministry for all Women, therefore we encourage you to write your testimony to share with and encourage other women all over the world. The Women’s Devotional is published by the Review and Herald every year to also provide scholarships for women. To review the guidelines visit http://wm.gc.adventist.org. You may also choose to submit your article directly to the General Conference Women’s Ministries as indicated in the guidelines.  Otherwise, please submit all articles to womensministries@rpcsda.org along with your name, address and telephone number. Pass on the blessings of your words!

First(1st) Friday -  Metro Area Adventist Young Adults (MAAYA) invites you to join them for "First Fridays" as they present "The Young & the Restless: Maintaining Healthy Relationships in the 21st Century." Come out to hear the insight, wisdom and advice  of Dr. Willie and Elaine Oliver, directors of Family Ministries North American Division.

This is definitely an evening you won't want to miss. First Friday will be held on Friday August 6, 2010 at 7:30 pm at Emmanual Brinklow SDA Church located at 18800 New Hampshire Avenue Ashton, MD 20861. Month of August: WAU Camp for Budding Scientists
The WAU Department of Biology & Chemistry is offering a Camp for Budding Scientists for kids ages 10-16 during the month of August. The half-day camp sessions will cover topics in natural science and computer science. The attached flyer gives more details. August 14: Prayer Night
In times like these, we need a Saviour! In times like these we need to draw nearer to the heart of GOD! In times like these, we need JESUS!  It’s that time again everyone for the next Prayer Night Event, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 6:30 pm – 12 am at Seabrook SDA Church on 8900 Goodluck Road, Lanham, MD 20706.  The theme is Healing: For Our Church, Our Community, and the World.  

Members of the community will be present including representatives from local government, Doctor's Community Hospital, and the fire and police departments of Prince Georges County.There will be songs of praise, testimonies, powerful messages and much, much more. So come, let’s pray together for the presence of the LORD to be healed and empowered to bring the Good News of Salvation to a dying world. JESUS longs for you to come boldly before HIS throne of grace and find HIS sweet favor in time of need.

 CD Release Concert for Lynda Hodges at Capitol Hill SDA
The debut CD Release Concert for Lynda Hodges will take place at Capitol Hill SDA Church on August 14, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Lynda and her live band will introduce music from her new CD entitled, "Free." Noted pianist and vocalist Evelyn Simpson-Curenton will be a special guest. After the concert, Lynda will join guests at a meet-the-artist reception where she will autograph CDs. August 14: "To God be the Glory Hallelujah"   
Berea Temple SDA Church presents Evangelist Paul Heflin in concert on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Berea Temple S.D.A. Church 901 Madison Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217 Doors open at 5:30pm. August 14-21: Revelation Seminar
Dupont Park SDA Church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Jimmy Ferguson, will be conducting a Revelation Seminar on August 14-21. Nov. 6: Women's Ministries Retreat  - Washington Metro Area 
Women's Ministries (WMAWM) invites you to join us on Sabbath, November 6, 2010 at the Hyatt Chesapeake Resort in Cambridge, Maryland for our 10th Biennial Retreat. Our theme this year is: "Pray, Praise, Persevere...Any How." Pastor Dilys Brooks, Associate Campus Chaplain, Loma Linda University will be our keynote speaker. Registration for this year's retreat is $90 for adults and $80 for young women (up to age 18). The fee includes breakfast and lunch at the hotel. Transportation is available for an additional $25. For those who wish to spend the night at the Hyatt, your room will cost only $129 per night, plus a $6 resort fee (and applicable tax and gratuity)
